I was taking it for granted that I could play silly songs for April but an emergency recording session was convened after some big vibe killer threatened to immolate an ancient civilization. At a loss, here's #FlandersAndSwann's 1964 antinuke #20TonsOfTNT

Here's a brief funny #StupidAccordionTrick for my April of Foolishness - from 1962, #BernardCribbins' #TheHoleInTheGround, championing class war. Why not?

Ok, the first day of April is here, meaning I get to turn over a new leaf and be explicitly silly in my #StupidAccordionTricks selections all month long in honor of #AprilFools. (I know, you're wondering... What were his excuses for doing it all the other months before?)
I've done a deep dive into the history of musical comedy and the novelty single, and begin the program this month with this crown jewel from the genre's late grand master, #TomLehrer's 1959 #PoisoningPigeonsInThePark. youtube.com/watch?v=1QJIh5_W…
My #StupidAccordionTricks spree of iconic songs by women winds up with my running #TammyWynette's 1968 #StandByYourMan through the squeezebox:

My #StupidAccordionTricks quest to celebrate IWD all month long has led me to some strange places, perhaps none odder than here: #ShaniaTwain's 1997 anthem #ManIFeelLikeAWoman:

A bolder foray into my #StupidAccordionTricks campaign of songs by kick-ass women for IWD all month long, here's last year's #Manchild by #SabrinaCarpenter:

As the start of my spree of IWD-inspired #StupidAccordionTricks cover songs this month, I kick it off with #Jax's #VictoriasSecret song. (Why? Epstein, sadly.)

For this week's #StupidAccordionTrick, here's something a little more romantic than the song I shared for Valentine's day earlier this month - #BrandiCarlile's #TheStory. (sorry about the clams in the solo!)

Valentine's Day kind of snuck up on me, but I should be sharing more #StupidAccordionTricks love songs in February, and they start with this improbable 2003 #Goldfrapp banger, #StrictMachine: youtube.com/watch?v=FZLcS1C8…
I couldn't do Superbowl headliner Bad Bunny justice with my Duolingo Spanish, so today's #StupidAccordionTrick celebrates the openers #GreenDay with 2004's #AmericanIdiot: youtube.com/watch?v=NUknd619…
For this week's #StupidAccordionTrick -- RIP to Catherine O'Hara, who famously lip-synched to this calypso standard while possessed in a kitchy retro moment of indulgence in Beetlejuice.

Either #JesseWelles is really going against the stream with his recent composition #JoinICE or possibly it is not intended in complete sincerity.

When things started spiraling the drain I queued up this song in my to-cover list and hoped I wouldn't have cause to record it, but here we are today with #NeilYoung's 1970 Kent State shooting protest song #Ohio.

And one final #StupidAccordionTrick for 2025, to ring out the stupid old year and ring in the stupid new year, here's my very unlikely squeezy take on #KoolAndTheGang's 1980 occasion-agnostic groove #Celebration. Come on!

The last Dionne sister died on Christmas Eve, so I pay tribute to those five Canadian heroes by recording this song from 90 years ago in which they are name-checked, #ILikeBananas (Because They Have No Bones).

With 13 hours left on the clock before the winter solstice, I finally record a winter song for 2025 with The #LegendaryPinkDots' bizarre and sarcastic 1984 #GovernmentHealthWarning at youtube.com/watch?v=WvRVH_j7…
And in case you find you somehow can't get enough of this stuff, I have a playlist of all the wintery songs I've made videos of over the years over at youtube.com/watch?v=VOyDpJJv…
