Last week, a subject trespassing in the flood control channel decided to not only run from officers, but took a brief swim and to avoid capture.
Most people can probably gather that if you run from one of us, you run from all of us. Aside from additional UPD units, our partners at @OntarioPD 🚁 and drone operators made quick work of locating the subject in between some boulders. At the end of it, he still ended up in jail, just all wet and out of breath.
🐾 WILDLIFE AWARENESS NOTICE 🐾
Upland Animal Services has received several reports of claw traps being used to capture wildlife. These illegal traps can cause severe pain and lasting injuries.

Be kind to wildlife—coexistence begins with compassion.

Take care of business tonight, fellas!
Vigilance is the standard… every contact, every person, every time.
Officers observed a vehicle drive past them with some equipment violations. As the officers made a u-turn, the vehicle abruptly pulled over and the male passenger ran off. As officers pulled up to stop the vehicle, the female driver jumped out and tried to walk away, then added some attitude like it would help.
As backing officers set a perimeter and looked for the male, officers on the stop located a loaded unregistered gun in the purse the woman was wearing. Inside the car, a second loaded and unregistered gun, drugs with intent to sell, and the guy’s identification 😏 were found.
The male evaded capture that day, but is probably feeling like he’s living in The Truman show right about now.

On behalf of Chief Blanco and the men and women of Upland PD, we send our thoughts and prayers to the Liles and @CHP_HQ family.
Repost from the California Highway Patrol:
“It is with profound sadness that the California Highway Patrol announces the line-of-duty death of Officer Brian Liles of the Visalia Area.
On September 28, 2026, at approximately 5:11 p.m., CHP Motorcycle Officer Liles was involved in an on-duty traffic crash on State Route 99, just north of State Route 190 in Tipton. He sustained critical injuries and, despite lifesaving efforts, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Officer Liles, 44, served the people of California for more than 16 years. After graduating from the CHP Academy in 2010, he was assigned to the San Jose Area and later served in the Hayward and Fresno Areas before transferring to the Visalia Area in 2019.
Officer Liles is survived by his wife, two children, his parents, and two sisters.
The CHP extends its deepest condolences to Officer Liles’ family, friends, loved ones, and all who served alongside him. His dedication to public service and commitment to protecting the people of California will not be forgotten.”
Drop a gear and disappear… 🫠
This guy was cruising up and down streets, breaking into mailboxes, and tried fleeing at 8mph.
Turns out, he had a no bail warrant for identity theft and has priors for fraud. He caught some new charges for felony theft, having burglary tools, and resisting arrest.
Last week, officers spotted a wanted subject, who decided to put his Altima through its paces. After rear ending a work truck, his car threw in the towel, forcing him to surrender. The guy ended up totaling his car and earned himself several new felony charges on top of his warrant.
Please join us in congratulating Sgt. Wyman for graduating the prestigious Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute program.
This comprehensive POST program is eight months long, involves a multitude of professional assignments, studies, and presentations to prepare our law enforcement leaders for the future.
