Halloween post #26:
Speaking of Super NES secrets, here's one accessible at the beginning of a game, rather than the end!
In The Addams Family, there are hidden rooms, starting with an invisible door in the lower-left of the Hall Of Stairs, full of power-ups, money, and 1ups!
Halloween post #25:
Speaking of Castlevania tricks, here's one for Super Castlevania IV (Super NES).
Jump down before the stairs that lead to Dracula to find invisible platforms, and down here, power-ups will rain on you, so you'll be more ready for the final confrontation!
VGMaps.com just received maps of a classic DOS game, "The Amazing Spider-Man", thanks to TimbreWulf!

This game is memorable for having a health meter that shows Spidey turning skeletal from his toes up to his scalp as he takes damage!
Halloween post #24:
Speaking of Castlevania II: Simon's Quest (NES), as cool as the game is (I think so, anyway), the bosses aren't that challenging.
Death can be defeated with a single bulb of garlic, as seen here:
Happy 38th birthday to Super Mario Bros. 3!
8-bit's the most classic, but if you want more official stages, try Super Mario Advance 4 (GBA) with the e-Reader peripheral & cards. If you don't have all that, you can play them all on Wii U VC and NSO's "Nintendo Classics" GBA app!
Happy 38th birthday to Super Mario Bros. 3!
Super Mario Bros. 3 was mapped as a multi-mapper project on VGMaps.com: The Video Game Atlas.
It can be challenging to collaborate as a group, but I think we did okay!
See the maps here:

Happy 38th birthday to Super Mario Bros. 3!
Japanese release, that is!
I discovered Super Mario Bros. 3 at an import games shop at West Edmonton Mall.
SMB2 was still hot then, so my mind was blown to see SMB3 already!
I rented and played it a ton, long before seeing "The Wizard".
Happy 38th birthday to Super Mario Bros. 3!
In the Canadian manual, French is below, English is on top.
Rather than copy and paste, Morton's name is misspelled "Montron" in Canadian English (not French), ironic since it sounds like Montréal, the most-known French-Canadian city!
Happy 38th birthday to Super Mario Bros. 3!
Before switching from bimonthly to monthly, Nintendo Power dedicated one of its four "Strategy Guide" issues to Super Mario Bros. 3.
Don't you just love the original artwork that guides used to have, before it became all in-game assets?
Happy 38th birthday to Super Mario Bros. 3!
As it was the best-selling (non-pack-in) console game for a while, you know this tester had their work cut out for them...
Happy 38th birthday to Super Mario Bros. 3 (based on Japanese release, but it's already tomorrow there)!
I have the Famicom version & three NTSC NES vers: "Left Bros.", "Right Bros.", and Canadian/red banner.
Amuses me that I got "Left Bros." from "Two Brothers Games" on eBay!

Speaking of good and bad endings, Castlevania II: Simon's Quest has them rather mixed up...
To see these endings (and many more) clarified, see @VGMuseum1's book, NES Endings Compendium - Vol. 1: 1985-1989, which I reviewed here:

I got my copy of Video Game Maps: NES & Famicom, from @RetroGameBooks!
I have some write-ups in here!
Read what I wrote!
(I think I've lost count of the publications that I now have quotes and blurbs in...)
