CSGORoll needed to change its reward system as it was too rewarding for churned players, leaving no budget to give more to active players.
We had 2 options for this release:
1) Insta-nuke
2) Be generous
Looking back I would have just insta-nuked it instead because no matter how much you try to keep the peace or be amicable to players who who have been collecting free rewards for a long time, they will never be happy.
With the generous option CSGORoll paid:
• 12.6m coins extra in daily free rewards
• 1.4m so far in ascension bonuses
Afterwards the players who planned to leave anyways mass scammed other customers by reverting their trades as their final act.
Lesson learned and I’ll know what not to do in the future, just be ruthless straight away and don’t try to be kind.
I'm going to update everything on HypeDrop its time, what's everything you hate about HypeDrop now, and what do you like about it?
Daily frees are getting nuked on @CSGORoll - here's what changing:
The bad:
- High value daily free can be opened for 30 days, if you don't rank up in that time, you'll only have a 5% chance to open it each day
- Medium value daily free can be opened for 90 days, after that it is 15% chance
- Low value daily free can be opened for 180 days, after that it is 30% chance
- High value daily free is roughly the same value as your current ones today, unless you're over level ~103
The good:
- Crypto withdraw
- Budget freed up to do large promotions again such as $1m race
- Levels replaced with Ranks based on your XP
- Ranking up only takes ~3 levels as opposed to 10 before
- Ranking up restores all opens and unlocks a more valuable daily free
- Instant coin bonus received when ranking up
- Ranking up fast will give you the equivalent value of all your unopened daily frees in coins instantly
- Level 100 daily free is no longer the most valuable case, they go way higher now
- Weekly and Monthly Rakeback will be added
- Ascend back to the first rank again and receive an instant coin bonus, as well as Ascension Points which can be used to improve your account (increase picklock %, increase race leaderboard contribution, increase gem drop rate, etc.)
Let me know if you have any questions 🙏
I'm 31 now and I've never had a job in my life, since the age of 17 I've always founded my own businesses and learnt everything from trying/failing and experience.
What I've specifically done that's different is:
1) Always operate with integrity
2) Do something no one else is doing and
3) Resiliently sacrifice everything I have in exchange for the end goal no matter what
I became a millionaire at the age of 23 and that same year I got up to $40m in total. But by 24 in 2018 I bought out my business partner in CSGORoll, then shortly after the CS industry collapsed with the 7 day trade hold. BTC went from $20k down to $2.7k (I sold at the bottom). By the end of 2018 my net worth was around $3m. $2m in assets and $1m business gambling funds.
My mission was to make everything back that I lost, all of 2019 I was trying to make HypeDrop profitable, changing the business model, trying different marketing strategies and not succeeding. By the end of 2019 my $1m business gambling funds had evaporated and I was lasting on fumes.
COVID happened, but this was a blessing. Suddenly HypeDrop actually started to make a profit, CSGORoll relaunched and now I had two horses in the race - in 2020 things started to look up - but what also went up was the price of BTC, and the amount of BTC I sold at the bottom felt more and more impossible to re-make, given how high it was going - nevertheless I set the impossible goal to make it back, and proceeded.
I was living in Malta at the time and didn't want to spend one day extra there more than I needed to, I never planned to live there long - but I had to make everything back. In 2021 I continued the same pattern as 2020 but on steroids, HypeDrop was huge and #1 in the industry, and CSGORoll too - it took just under a year to regain leading market position.
2022 again was insane, everything was exploding and the comeback was real.
2023 I naturally launched HypeUp, and at the time I didn't realise how strong of a position I was in, I had the ability to offer the 'trifecta' deal to influencers, where they could advertise HypeDrop, CSGORoll and HypeUp - essentially blocking competitors out of the market. I was oblivious to the power of this and was just doing what was natural to me. This caused a group of competitors to defend their position, partner up to create FUD and bring me back down to their level - they succeeded.
By the end of 2023 which was an absolutely gigantic year, sponsoring the largest e-sports team in the world was only dipping our toe in the water for how far we were aiming. But everything instead came to a halt, what was a creative, innovative and exciting place where you bounced off the community, brainstormed with competitors and enjoyed your workspace/industry - turned into something that I wanted to be as far away from as possible, after all the attacks that we had.
In 2024 I gave up control of all my companies to some shiny CV's and corporate executives, closed down HypeDrop and HypeUp, shaved my head, spent a lot of time in Mexico - turned 30 - and most definitely had a midlife crisis looking back. The shiny CV corporate executives tanked my enterprises by -50% and eventually I had to step back in.
From 2024-2025 I was trying to unravel the corporate mess of what my companies evolved into. What was built as a purpose-led, organic, founder inspired, creative mission - turned into something that was totally incompatible with my working style. We bloated to over 160 people and I peeled that back down to 100 - it is a lot harder to scale back than it is to scale up.
Now I'm in the exact same position again, I've achieved every single goal that I set out to achieve, the industry no longer feels creative - it isn't unique or novel. I certainly don't want to be a single point of failure for my businesses for the rest of my life, and 'becoming #1 in the market' is a goal I've achieved several times over and it no longer has any meaning or purpose to me.
My current goal is to operationalise the businesses so that they're more robust and sustainable for the long-run - but this is NOT my area of expertise. My strong suit is launching a scrappy startup from my bedroom that nobody else has thought of, launching and adapting in real-time. I'm also curious if it is even possible for process-led companies to compete against founder-led companies - from my experience the answer is no.
But then I don't know what... I've experienced not working on the businesses and I can tell you that the grass isn't greener on the other side. Purpose is more important than pleasure. The biggest thing I missed out on was the social aspect with like-minded equally driven people, things like celebrating business milestones in person or simply enjoying the fruits of your labour together. So whatever I work on next, definitely doesn't want to be a solo grind hustle to earn even more money to do nothing with. I want to win with people.
Just thought I'd share a glimpse of my story as a founder who has had the experience that many of you aim for, and the position that I'm in currently. Since I know that a lot of entrepreneurs follow me - or even look up to me. I hope it was insightful and helpful for you to hear, and if you have any questions let me know.
Accountability and integrity in the market now only exists if the owners have a morale compass. If they don’t, there’s no negative repercussion to them. Rug pulls are praised, websites are openly racist and tell people to kill themselves, 0 KYC is bragged about allowing minors and money launderers, marketing now promotes irresponsible gambling and fake viewers/balance is rampant.
The main target markets that generate the most income per player are NA and Europe - but there’s not a single authority taking responsible action against these sites or site owners - nobody respects the law in over-bureaucratised slow moving countries - and there is no law in the off-shore jurisdictions where they exist. You’ll never see a site owner take risks in countries like the UAE, rest assured that’s a full block there and there’s no skirting the law due to respect. But Europe and NA?
Usually with any industry that’s at its peak where fraud is also rife, it signals that the gravy train will only last for so long. But I don’t even see how regulators or enforcement agencies will even begin to protect people since they’re being outcompeted by teenagers. So probably you’ll continue to notice a behavioural sink where eventually things will get out of hand.
It’s my first time in 12 years that I’m bearish on crypto. Surely the sun won’t shine for too much longer with this trend. Or maybe it will.
Livestreaming product development/strategy from my perspective would probably be cool to share my perspective and even see feedback in real time
For years there was very little competition, now there’s a new site popping up every week in casino/CS/IRL opening space - even GameStop selling packs now. What is that signalling?
After months of extensive research we've found that there's no correlation between the number of HypeDrop website visits and the number of times "bruh" was typed in Discord
