🎢 Forget BTC dominance for a second. This is the altseason chart I care about
$BTC reclaimed the 50W MA and the 365D MA.
Altcoins are moving again.
Everything looks good and Crypto X is slowly entering FOMO mode:
- Altseason tomorrow.
- Altseason next month.
- Altseason is already here.
Maybe. But there is one chart I care about much more.
The best environment for a broad altcoin expansion has historically appeared when global liquidity starts pushing into new highs.
💎 I track it with a simple Global Net Liquidity proxy.
It combines the balance sheets of the Fed, BoJ, PBoC and ECB converted into USD, then subtracts the two major US dollar liquidity drains, RRP and the Treasury General Account.
The logic is simple. When this line rises, more potential liquidity is entering the financial system and the environment becomes more supportive for risk assets.
👀 Look at 2016-2017
Global liquidity broke into new highs. BTC dominance collapsed and altcoins exploded.
👀 Then look at 2020-2021
The same thing happened again. Liquidity broke the previous high, OTHERS accelerated and BTC dominance eventually fell toward the 40% area.
👀 The last cycle was different
This liquidity proxy never broke its 2021-2022 ATH. And we never got the kind of broad altseason we saw in 2017 and 2021.
Right now the proxy is around $24.2T.
The level I care about is around $29.4T. That is the previous all time high.
So yes, altcoins can keep running before we get there.
But if this chart eventually breaks $29.4T while BTC dominance starts rolling over, that is where I would start taking the idea of a real broad altseason much more seriously.
⏰ Set an alert. I'll post the formula in the first comment under the tweet.
This may be one of the most important charts for altcoins over the next few months.
🔋 Altcoins may be setting up for a 2021 style move again
In the previous cycle, alts never really got washed out against Bitcoin the way they did in 2019 and during the COVID crash in 2020.
Back then, OTHERS/BTC dropped all the way into a major long term support zone before the 2021 altcoin expansion began.
This time, we have finally come back to that same area.
That is the part I find interesting.
Altcoins have already spent years underperforming $BTC, and the relative reset is much deeper than it was before the last major alt run.
If this long term support holds and the structure starts turning up, the next altcoin cycle could look similar to 2021. Potentially even stronger.
The chart is not confirming that yet. But the setup is finally there.

LayerZero is winding down offchain support for a number of chains with minimal activity. This means that LayerZero DVN and Executor services will no longer be available for these chains.
In the next 30 days, the following chains will be impacted: Botanix, Canto, Moonriver, Moonbeam, Nexera
As a result, some chains will no longer be supported by Stargate Hydra. Stargate users should redeem their Hydra assets (USDC.e, wETH, Hydra USDT) from these chains. Failure to act before chain support is fully deprecated will result in losing access to your funds.
For the full list of impacted chains and effective dates, read here: layerzero.network/blog/suppo…

👀 OPTIMISM WITHOUT BASE. WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT?
There has been a lot of news surrounding Superchain in recent days. First, we saw a major publication from the CEO of OP Labs & Co-founder @Optimism on the topic of future FUD and drama and the project's unchanging roadmap despite everything.
A day later, we saw what appears to be the source of the drama @jinglejamOP was talking about. It's about Base leaving OP Stack for its own Base Chain, as reported by @WilsonCusack.
Let me remind you that during the existence of Superchain, the total Collective Revenue amounted to $20.5K ETH. Of this, 8.5K ETH was received from @Base, which is 41.6%.
According to official sources from Optimism, the latest trends show that the total gas fees paid by users to send transactions in January 2026 amounted to 68.2 ETH or $199.7K. Of this, Base accounted for $192.9K, or 96.5%.
On the same day, an announcement was made about the migration of @ether_fi from Scroll to Optimism. 70,000 active cards, 300,000 accounts, and $200 million in TVL will move to OP Stack. The announcement came on the same day that Base announced its desire to leave after a while. The announcement came a day after the FUD warning.
This does not look like a random series of events. It is obvious that Base's departure was known in advance and the news about @ether_fi move is not a coincidence, but an attempt at rehabilitation. The price of the $OP token speaks for itself. I wonder how long Base desire to leave has been known? From Base's point of view, it's understandable: they give 15% of their profits to the Optimism Collective, currently being almost monopolists in replenishing this treasury. They will create their own stack for Base Chain, announce a similar commission for projects, and open their doors to them. It's all about money, nothing personal. Business and nothing more!
But what is Optimism left with? Why are there no comments for investors and token holders, and how does Optimism intend to move forward now? What about the approved buyback, which directs 50% of the revenue from Superchain sequencers to regular purchases of OP tokens... Based on last year's annual revenue, that would be approximately $8 million. But after Base's departure, how much will that be, given the statistics for January 2026? Crumbs? It's obvious that most of the annual revenue is lost with these inputs.
At the same time, I would like to remind you that investors and major contributors still have monthly unlocking at the level of $32 million OP. That's $4.5 million per month! The project's capitalization today is $599 million. Obviously, even a buyout of $8 or $20 million per year would not be a lifeline for the OP token price. But now, such project revenues are not expected either.
How do you @jinglejamOP intend to escape the bondage of dependence on the income of a single project that is already asking to leave? Tell us, tell me, an OP token holder, what you intend to do in light of the current situation? A major player is leaving the Superchain concept, and it is impossible not to comment on this, as if Swell had asked to leave.
Our Official Response to FUD and Drama.
You're gonna see us on a rampage this year. Of course, the most delightful things to engage with on twitter are drama and FUD posts. So reasonably, I’ve been getting questions about what various trends mean for Optimism. Whether it's regarding thought leader commentary, other L1s, or poorly disguised forks of the OP Stack.
Let me be clear: External commentary doesn't change our roadmap. It doesn't modify the history of what we've already accomplished. It doesn't change our priorities. We set our roadmap based on what our partners need.
People choose the OP stack because it's the best technology, the most performant chain stack, and the most profit-enabling infrastructure. These claims are proven in production, not flashy headlines for technology that hasn't been built.
What we're actually building
The Scale
The Superchain is by far the fastest growing blockchain stack in crypto. Two years ago, we processed 208 million transactions. Last year, 6.1 billion. That's 29x growth— by far the fastest of any blockchain ecosystem in crypto.
The Economics
10.1x.
For every dollar users spend on fees, chains generate ten dollars in revenue.
The value flows to partners, not the platform. That's by design.
The Model
The OP Stack is open source. To differentiate in a competitive market, you need to own your infrastructure. But most enterprises don't want to build and maintain it themselves—they want to focus on their product and their users. That's the gap we fill. That's why we built OP Enterprise.
Think of it like Databricks for Spark or Elastic for Elasticsearch: open source core, widely adopted, but enterprises need support, customization, and guaranteed service levels. OP Enterprise is that layer for blockchain infrastructure.
The Partners
World is building identity systems for 20 million users. Sony is building for creators and gaming. Uniswap is building the home for onchain trading. Kraken is bringing institutional-grade infrastructure to their users. Base has scaled to become one of the largest chains in crypto. Each chose us for specific strategic reasons—and those reasons haven't changed.
The Future
As the market matures, partners will evolve in different directions. Some will want more control. Some will build specialized systems for their unique requirements. That's expected. The Superchain was designed to be bigger than any single partner.
We've been at this for four years. We're just getting started. This week at the Scaling Summit, we're showing the next generation: native interoperability, faster block times, enterprise-grade compliance controls.
What if you could launch products in weeks, not years—and make more revenue for every dollar deposited?
That's what we help you do.

🪂 MONAD AIRDROP WITHOUT PRELUDES. WHO IS A MONAD USER?
1) The project published the airdrop criteria on its blog, shocking the crypto community, especially its own. Only 5,500 wallets are eligible! That's 0.74% of @monad Discord users. At the same time, the project is distributing airdrops to 225,000 addresses outside its community, to users who are probably not even aware of Monad and will not be able to complete the claim by the November 3 deadline.
How does this align with the word “community” in principle? Did @keoneHD, @intern and @mikeinweb originally organize such fun contests to laugh at and humiliate their users? IMHO, it looks pathetic!
According to Monad's own criteria, any third-party crypto enthusiast is more valuable to them than a member of their community. This is absurd!
Sybil's razor — it's all clear, no one argues that it should be and is legitimate. But please note that @LineaBuild threw out a lot of wallets from the distribution, while still distributing to 749,662 eligible addresses. Compare this figure with the 5,500 eligible addresses of Monad users. As they say, the numbers speak for themselves!

💪 NEW STANDARD FOR LINEA L2 CHAIN TOKEN
1) The token governance paradigm has long been useless. I wrote about this back on October 26, 2024
teapaw.org/coinmetrika/status/185…
Let me remind you in broad strokes that at that time I recommended @LineaBuild to focus on the utility of the $LINEA token, rather than rushing to launch a voting token. Among the proposals was the following:
L2 tokens need a utility! Another voting token won't work... Instead of rushing to release the token, the team would be better off focusing on the utility of the token. One voting function is not enough! All of L2 needs $ETH and can easily do without the native network token, it simply has no utility. That's a problem... It is possible to go further and improve the idea by thinking through the combustion mechanisms. Which would make the token deflationary in the long run...
Today, the LINEA token is already trading on exchanges. And the project team, represented by @ethereumJoseph and @DeclanFox14, has changed the rules of the game in the L2 chain segment. Respect to them for that, it was high time someone did it and led this movement. I think @VitalikButerin will also appreciate these efforts when the next L2 came not to take away from Ethereum, but also to give. This design makes the network “Ethereum-aligned”: every activity on L2 directly supports the ETH shortage on L1. And I think it's right, as with the minimum Stage threshold (I talked about the difference between Stage 0-2 in the video youtu.be/SDqUoUiJXCw), to introduce rules for L2 to spend part of the revenue received on repurchasing and burning ETH.
While tokens from chains such as Optimism, @arbitrum, Starknet and zkSync perform a governance function, the LINEA token does not. Bingo, it's done! I am sincerely happy about this! The value of the token created by @Consensys is tied to the network's revenue through buyback&burn. Gas in Linea is paid in ETH, and LINEA itself is not a gas token, unlike $STRK or paymasters support for ERC-20 from zkSync Era.
20% of net revenue in ETH (after deducting costs for publishing data on L1 via EIP-4844 blobs, proof verification, etc.) is burned in ETH, and 80% of net revenue is used to buy back and burn $LINEA. This makes the scarcity of both assets a function of the actual network load.
🧐L2 tokens need a utility! Another voting token won't work! Who is next in line? Looks like it's @LineaBuild and here's what they should look at.
@ethereumJoseph, @rojotek should draw the right conclusions from the @Scroll_ZKP airdrop that left no chance for $SCR token growth in the short term after listing. The team should implement a maximum bar on airdrop if they plan to distribute it and not let whales take 2/3 of the distribution theblock.co/post/322255/why-…. This is how decentralization is broken and puts serious pressure on the token price, which is what we saw with the $SCR token distribution and its market price after listing. 9 days before the listing, anticipating all the problems that happened I gave advice on decentralization, but it was not heard.
Other than that, @Consensys can break the trend of the declining FDV of every new L2 on the market. At a minimum you don't need to come out with a token in 2024 to do so. Calmly allocate points after November 25. And wait for a good bull market. Otherwise Linea will be just another L2 meme that all Twitter will be buzzing about, but no one will buy it!
Instead of rushing to release the token, the team would be better off focusing on the utility of the token. One voting function is not enough! All of L2 needs $ETH and can easily do without the native network token, it simply has no utility. That's a problem! But Linea has a trump card in the form of Metamask Card integration, which no other L2 solution on the market has. MetaMask Card will work on Linea's network. This means that card users will need to use this network and store their funds in this blockchain. But the problem is that $ETH will be used to pay commissions. The native token of the network again gets nothing from this trump card! But this can be fixed!
Linea could introduce incentives for paying for gas in the native token and award some points for that. These points can then be allocated to further airdrops or rewards, converting the points into a token. It's like paying a commission on a stock exchange with a discounted token. Try to motivate your audience to use the native token instead of $ETH for commissions. It will be good for the holders, and for the users, who will be motivated to buy the token to get benefits, and not to forget about the project immediately after #airdrop.
That is, make like @Starknet and @zksync an abstraction so that gas can be paid for with both native tokens and $ETH. But incentivize to use your token specifically for this task! Then all the huge Metamask audience who will buy cards will regularly buy the native token of the network to pay for gas when their USDT, USDC and wETH are automatically converted to dollars in the #Linea network.
It is possible to go further and improve the idea by thinking through the combustion mechanisms. Which would make the token deflationary in the long run. For example, for the accumulated points that will be accumulated by users for using the native token as gas, the project could not distribute the drop to users, but simply burn its equivalent. And do so with some periodicity, on which to provide for a share of tokenomics in the treasury.
Someone has to break the inefficiency of L2 tokens. Whoever is first will lead this segment. Linea is well positioned to do just that! Let's face it, which L2s continue to be used? The ones that didn't offend users during allocation, i.e. Arbitrum and @Optimism with some of its Superchains (@base) defillama.com/chains/Rollup. All L2's are now cheap today after the Dencun update to @ethereum. User can easily forget forever the Chain that offended him as it has many alternatives. Will use the same cheap @arbitrum and that's it.
Fall in love with the user, attract and encourage their attention! If you are making another L2 to offload teams and funds about retail, it's better to just stay out of the market!

🪂 LINEA AIRDROP. WHAT IS MORE VALUABLE, LXP OR LXP-L?
1) @LineaBuild allocated 4% to the Linea Surge campaign. Those who provided liquidity in this campaign will share 72B * 0.04 = 2.88 $LINEA. This data was published today on @LineaAssoc
Knowing that the Max Total Supply of SBT LXP-L tokens is 2.88B, it turns out that LXP-L = 1 $LINEA.
lineascan.build/token/0xbc8f…
The Linea Consortium has approved a 4% LINEA allocation for Liquidity Providers who participated in the Linea Surge campaign.
SBTs were minted last Friday to eligible wallets as the first step toward distribution.
More details on the conversion of these SBTs to LINEA tokens will be revealed with the official eligibility checker.
