Completely unconstitutional exercise. If auto deletion is a legally flawed & unacceptable practice. Indian Express has done well to speak abt it. Public interest deletions can be for protection of sovereignty & public order. Never for political interest of leaders or parties.

Between March and July 2026, nearly 1.95 lakh blocking orders went to Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. That's around 1,275 every single day. One every 68 seconds. A year earlier, the same Home Ministry portal sent about 6 orders a day. Six. And when the story came out, the government's own "clarification" made it worse. It said the real number was nearly 2.98 lakh. One order can cover hundreds of posts and accounts. Meta has plugged its system straight into the Home Ministry's portal, so flagged posts can disappear without any human even reviewing them.
