"Retrospective lookbacks introduce reporting bias and likely underestimate the number of failed implantations and complications. This is further evidenced by higher crossover rates in randomized trials observed in HIS SYNC (47%), HIS ALTERNATIVE (28%)... Mixed registries within MELOS reported 98-100% implant rates, whereas prospective sites reported implant success rates as low as 80%. This 20% difference between prospective and retrospective reporting is significant with regard to reporting methodology and generalizability."
