Just completed a peer review for JADD (Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders). Good to get to contribute to the scientific process from the other side. It’s unexpectedly empowering to get to evaluate work in your field.

One thing I didn’t expect about monkey training/shaping was how individualized motivating them is: time of day, juice type, snack breaks, nap breaks, timeout length, secondary rewards, stochastic rewards, whether they like even the experimenter etc. very fun & very challenging!

My research lab is recruiting participants for a sensory study.
I'm in 2 very interesting labs researching sensory neuroscience. In layman's terms the @AutismLASR lab looks at it from an internal perspective and @VandyWallaceLab looks at it from an external perspective.

I think this is the second time you beat me to the tweet @AV_SP!
Happy to see this find a home. The visual system builds linguistic representations from visual speech that can be used to track the content of the speech. Neat.

We still have a postdoc position in my lab at @HHMIJanelia where we use approaches like this to figure out how mice can quickly learn flexible computations by building and using models of their environment. Get in touch if this sound fun and interesting!
It's an unspoken fact that freely moving lab mice are not really freely moving. We came up with a method to change this. See the preprint: biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… (1/3)
