**“MEET GUS. HE’S 14. AND THIS IS HIS LAST ROAD TRIP.”**
Every Sunday for 12 years, Gus’s person took him for a drive with the windows down and his favorite teddy bear riding shotgun. After his person passed last spring, Gus stopped eating for a while… until someone found the old teddy bear under the bed and put it in his paws.
Now, whenever the family goes for a drive, Gus still climbs into the passenger seat, holds his teddy tight, and watches the trees go by — just like he used to. Halfway through the trip he always turns and looks at whoever’s driving, as if he’s checking that they’re still there. Then he rests his chin on his teddy, closes his eyes, and rides the rest of the way in peace.
He doesn’t know the person he loved most is gone.
He just knows that as long as he has his teddy… and a seat by the window… everything is still okay.

His family moved away and left him behind. Every time I read that, it breaks my heart. I look at my own dogs and cannot imagine abandoning them like yesterday’s trash. To them, we are their entire world, and Diego’s world walked away from him.

A woman says she repeatedly begged her neighbors to stop leaving their 2-year-old Goldendoodle, Rocco, chained outside in the Texas heat for 10 to 15 hours a day without water or shade.
She says she called animal control and even offered to take him in, but her help was refused. The dog later died, and she has now started a petition calling for his owners to be held accountable. "It is imperative that local authorities pursue this case to ensure justice for Rocco," the petition reads.
