Europe is set for an interesting weather pattern at least throughout this week (see temperature anomaly map ventusky.com/temperature-map…). 🧐 Much of the continent will see an unusually warm spell of Indian summer weather, while southeastern Europe will be noticeably cooler. In nearby Turkey and across parts of North Africa, temperatures will even fall well below average. The reason is a striking contrast in air masses: cold air will spill southward from Siberia, while much of Europe will draw in warm air from western Africa. 🥵🥶

Europe recorded its latest 40 °C temperature ever observed this late in the year. 🧐🥵 It happened yesterday in southern Spain, where temperatures reached 41.3°C. Such values will not occur again in Europe this year, making this almost certainly the continent’s final 40 °C reading of 2026. There were unusually many 40 °C days this summer, especially across western and southwestern Europe.
