Thanks to @voxybuns for providing the vectorised portraits used in the above image! These delightful designs, originally created by Shigeki Toyama, were used on PiCPAC promo material and merchandise including pin badges, which I attempted to recreate in the anniversary image:

I took the kid to KidZania Tokyo today, which is a mini city for kids where they can work jobs, bank, shop, etc but they also had a job working for Nintendo as a game dev.
