It’s things like this that will continue to set the US back in scientific discovery and innovation. Sure, you can yell that AI is game changing, I believe you. I’ve experienced it myself. But if we don’t get the money to generate new data, there’s no way that AI can assist in advancing the field forward. Especially in the biomedical sciences. Instead of making the review process more opaque it should be clearer. Instead of cutting funding, we should be investing more…

Im looking forward to testing Argon. Gemini pro was a life saver when discussing experiments and quickly catching mistakes, GPT-Sol 6.1 has been fantastic so far as well, but it’d be nice to see another frontier model where I can actually brainstorm biomedical research.
Opus and Sonnet just flag almost anything research related even if it’s not anything crazy (Flow Cytometry for example)
Mmmm are we really thinking this is because of safety? Or does Astra not live up to compete against Sonnet and Opus?
Opus 5.5 and Astra 6 are phenomenal models in their own right. But as a researcher, I increasingly continue to lean toward Astra.
My chats with Opus got blocked while discussing flow cytometry and from what I was asking, I couldn’t see a reason for it.
Anthropic needs to get this distinction right. I get safeguards matter, but so does being able to do legitimate biomedical research...
