Bengaluru's green cover has fallen from 78% to 6%, its natural cooling systems are gone, and the city is baking.

#OldBangalore: MG Road, 1967. One of the rarest picture you'll ever see. On the left, a woman wearing a saree is seen riding a scooter. On the right, the bygone and legendary ‘3 Aces’ club is standing in all its glory. 3 Aces club was the most happening place back in the day. On the right, students (I assume from St. Joseph's) are seen walking and and having a jolly time. This was a time when MG Road stood in all its grandeur, but sadly the Metro pillar took its beauty away from 2007 onwards changing the entire landscape into an eyesore.
The Bangalore which people in the picture saw is a completely different Bengaluru from the one we're all seeing today.

#OldBangalore: Malleshwaram Circle, 2000.
This is much before the underpass came up. Good old days!

#OldBangalore: Sadashivanagar, 1982.
One of the most posh localities in the city with politicians, movie stars, and businessmen residing here.

#OldBanaglore: Alankar Plaza, Majestic KG Road, 1999, when the shopping complex was bustling. On the extreme right, the large cut out of Santosh Theatre showcasing Shivaraj Kumar starrer AK-47 movie is seen (back view)

#OldBangalore: Malleshwaram Sampige Road, 1980s.
On the left is the compound wall of Raja Mills, which was demolished in 2003. Mantri Mall and Mantri Green apartments currently stands in this place. On the right is Sirur Park. The road was a 2-way street back then.

#OldBangalore: Cauvery Theatre, 1990.
Movie goers in deep conversation with friends while waiting for the 2nd show (night show) to begin.
The film timings for the theatre was 11:30 AM, 2:30 PM, 6:30 PM, and 9:30 PM.
The theatre had ample space inside its premises and was built in 1974. It faced demolition in 2024 and a new multiplex complex will take its place next.

#OldBangalore: Orion Mall Road (Dr. Rajkumar Road) in the year 2000. On the left, the large compound wall of Kirloskar Factory is seen. The factory was demolished in early 2000s to make way for the Orion Mall, Brigade Gateway Apartments, and the World Trade Centre.
During the 90s, every evening we could hear the Kirloskar Factory siren (loud and long) at around 4 PM or 5 PM, a logout time for all workers.

The 22-acre factory 'Mysore Lamps' at the end of Malleshwaram in Bangalore could soon end up being demolished to make way for a Convention Center as per the governments new plan. Citizens are already against the move urging to create a park, green space instead.
The factory had been non-functional for over 2-3 decades now and remained closed.

Yesteryear #Kannada actor Mysore Lokesh with his wife Parvathi Lokesh posing for a pic in the early 1990s. He acted in more than 350 movies from 1979 till his death in 1992. Immeasurable talent he carried in his comedy roles and the Kannada Film Industry misses him deeply.

#OldBangalore: MG Road, Symphony Theatre, 1982.
Ullas Refreshments signboard is seen on the first floor (in red). The hotel was closed a few years ago. Next to it, there’s a signboard that reads Fazals, and was a clothing shop. On the right hand background, many buildings were still under construction at that time.

#OldBangalore: Cauvery theatre junction, 1979.
Turn right- Cauvery theatre, turn left- leads to Mekhri Circle. The empty plot on the left is where Baskin Robins/Girias currently stands. The green space in the front is Palace Grounds.
This same location now looks completely different with heavy traffic flow and the mindless under pass called the 'Magic Box'.

#OldBangalore: What have we done to #Bangalore? The damage is beyond repair. Here's an areal view of MG Road clicked from Utility Building terrace in 1982.
The far away surrounding areas were looking so green and pristine back in the day. Those were the good old days! Now it's just nostalgia.

#OldBangalore: Bangalore-based India's first heavy metal band #Millennium posing for a pic at #AirlinesHotel in 1996. One of the greatest & memorable band that ever existed in the country. The last I saw them live was in March 2008, when the opened for #Megadeth in #Bangalore
Google Stock can make you $365,000 by 2036? Most investors look at the price and say, "Wish I bought it 10 years ago." I did the math on what happens if you start TODAY. The secret isn't the math—it's the mindset.
