Compassion is a virtue, not a crime. ❤️🩹 Yet, defending the rights of people on the move has become dangerous.
Migrant human rights defenders face death threats, legal persecution, and hate campaigns for their compassion and solidarity. 🛡️ Volunteers helping people get medical care are accused of trafficking. 🩺 Lawyers defending migrants are forced into exile. ⚖️ Providing shelter or other support to people on the move is increasingly being punished, targeting both those in need and those showing compassion. 🏠
But behind every journey is courage and resilience:
🌊 A mother boards a rubber boat days after a C-section, driven by hope for her baby’s future.
🤝 A volunteer risks their safety to ensure refugees receive urgent medical care.
This is a fight for humanity's most fundamental values: compassion, dignity, and solidarity. ✊ We must stand with the defenders. We must stand for humanity. 🌍
