I think I'm starting to miss the days when I had a ownership of a codebase that I truly knew from front to back.
It's just become harder to have confidence that I'm building towards learning critical pieces of context that I need to know in order to make the right decisions.
Can't wait to see what's gonna happen with all the daylight savings changes next week
Don't get me wrong I'm very happy we're not switching it anymore
Just seems like a bit of an IT nightmare scenario ๐คฃ
omg yes finally I was able to run a system update without completely bricking my system... thank god for snapshots but god damn it made me consider switching off cachyos for a little bit
Omgomgomgomgomg yes yay yippee time to watch the finale on the big screen wahooooo
We are doing our part to repair cultural ties to Canada.

ALT Sam Denby, in an airport in front of the Canadian flag, holds a piece of paper. On the bottom half of the image, a shot of the paper contains a list of Canadian screenings added to see the Jet Lag: Japanorama finale. The list reads as follows: Ottawa, ON Whitby, ON Orleans, ON Kingston, ON St. Catharines, ON Waterloo, ON New Westminster, BC Surrey, BC Calgary, AB Nanaimo, BC Kelowna, BC Brandon, MB
Granted I'm still fairly new in my position. But it's also just insane how quickly I onboarded - like a week. I could probably handle more parallel tasks in the future but honestly, the mental load is already pretty intense especially throwing in code reviews throughout the day.
What worries me most now is the expectations around my output and the quantity of it when it comes to AI. I'm definitely outputting way more compared to before, but at the same time, I don't think it actually makes sense to parallelize my work streams anymore than I already am.
All I can do is ensure my usage of it is as efficient as possible without reaching into the realms of tokenmaxxing, and ensure that I'm following best practices and reviewing my shit to make sure it's not complete slop. In fact, that's basically the entire job - deslopping output
I don't get to really have a say in this anymore. I've always been a fence guy when it comes to this, but at the end of the day I gotta take whatever position puts money in my pocket and it just so happens our industry has changed so drastically to be unrecognizable without AI.
