Runes has been a total failure as an ecosystem. When it launched, all the attention shifted away from Ordinals on hopes of chasing the next big thing. Not only did it flop hard, it damaged the run Ordinals had going at the time. But I still have hope for it. Why? Bitcoin is the most trusted and recognized brand in all of crypto. Runes lives on Bitcoin. That alone is a competitive advantage most ecosystems would kill for. No smart contract risk. No bridge risk. No L2 nonsense. Simply Settlement on the most secure chain in existence. The infrastructure is still early. Which means the opportunity is still early. Casey built Runes with simplicity in mind. Easier to understand than BRC-20. Cleaner. More efficient on block space. Every cycle more people enter crypto. Most of them come through the easiest and most exciting path available. That path has always been memecoins. Memecoins on Bitcoin? That is Runes. As retail floods back in through Solana and Base memecoins, someone is going to ask the obvious question.
