“We all dream of being able to return home one day,” said Nur Sadek, a Rohingya refugee rights advocate, “but we want to return because it is safe and because we choose to — not because we are forced to.
“For me, the most important thing is that Rohingya and other refugees affected by this decision are listened to and treated with dignity.”

🇲🇲 NEW: Myanmar military airstrikes on civilian areas in Rakhine State may constitute war crimes, says @FortifyRights. A September 28 airstrike on a crowded market in Kyauktaw Township reportedly killed at least 50 civilians and wounded more than 50 others, including children, Rakhine and Rohingya residents, and a nine-month pregnant woman whose unborn baby was also killed.
The Myanmar junta should be held accountable for war crimes before the International Criminal Court and other possible venues. Governments should also cut off weapons and jet-fuel supplies enabling these attacks.
“The Myanmar military junta's deliberate bombing of a crowded market and civilian areas is an open commission of a war crime. Countries supplying weapons and jet fuel must cut off their supplies, which enable these attacks," said @lynn_htet_lh, Human Rights Specialist at @FortifyRights.

Bangladesh and Malaysia should establish a legally binding bilateral labor agreement to protect migrant workers, say Migrant Welfare Network and @FortifyRights.
The agreement should address debt bondage, wage theft, passport confiscation and unsafe working conditions, etc, with effective remedies for rights violations.

9 years of refugee life. 9 years searching for justice. On this 9th Rohingya Genocide Remembrance Day, we honour those we lost and demand safe, dignified conditions for survivors to return to our homeland with full rights, citizenship, and international accountability.

“The nine-year commemoration must spark immediate action, not just statements. All supporters and allies must unite to pressure the Myanmar military and the Arakan Army to end violence against the Rohingya and establish safe conditions for survivors to return home,” — my comment in @AJEnglish

“The genocide has never stopped. Sending Rohingya back to this is not repatriation,” Nay San Lwin, cochair of the Arakan Rohingya National Council (ARNC), a group representing the Rohingya, told Al Jazeera. “It is sending people back to a killing field. We call on Malaysia to halt all returns of Rohingya to Myanmar until it is safe.”
He argued that Malaysia’s decision to send refugees back to Myanmar came at a time when intense fighting was taking place between the army and rebel groups, including the Arakan Army.
“The Myanmar military has lost control of much of the Rohingya homeland, and its fighting with the Arakan Army is still ongoing, with Rohingya caught in the middle. Both the military and the Arakan Army are committing atrocities against the Rohingya,” he said.

Myanmar Ethnic Rohingya Human Rights Organization in Malaysia (MERHROM), Thank you, H.E. MR @volker_turk,The United Nations UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, The @UN_HRC at its 63rd session. We appeal to you to be our voices.
We truly need your voice as we are voiceless. We need your voice and immediate interventions to end the genocide and atrocities in Myanmar and help us restore democracy in Myanmar.
The long decades of international pressure and advocacy failed to stop the military junta from committing genocide and atrocities against its own people. This is a clear Genocide and crimes against humanity.
For the longest decades Rohingya were facing ongoing genocide through mass murder, torture, rape, arbitrary detention, arson attack, enforced disappreances, kidnapping for ransom, forced labour, forced eviction, extortion, restriction of movement and forcibly use as human shields. These are unbearable. We urge the United Nations and its member states to send UN peacekeeping force to the Rakhine State to ensure the safety of the population.
We would like to remind everyone, the lack of political will to save the Rohingya lives only allow Rohingya Genocide to continue subsequently eliminates Rohingya from the earth. Please stop this without delay. We need international support to recover, heal and rebuild our lives.Prove us that humanity still exists.
There is no political will to end the Rohingya Genocide, to restore Rohingya citizenship,to restore democracy in Myanmar, to prosecute the Myanmar junta Shame President Min Aung Hlaing & the Arakan Army (AA) for committing Genocide.
We urge effectively use the 1948 UN Genocide Convention to end the Rohingya Genocide and crime against humanity in Myanmar
We requested that all United Nations and its UN member states fully support Gambia for the International Court of Justice (ICJ) process of initiating legal actions against the Myanmar military personnel at the ICC.
We requested that all countries advocate to all stakeholders to officially recognize and declare the Rohingya Genocide & collaborate effectively to end the Rohingya Genocide.
We thank you very much for your ongoing support, commitment,& intervention to stop the Rohingya Genocide and atrocities in Myanmar as well as restoring our rights as citizens of Myanmar. We look forward to your active intervention to uphold human rights globally, ensure justice, and create a peaceful world.
The Myanmar military and the Arakan Army (AA) must be made accountable for the Rohingya Genocide without further delay. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC) process must be sped up in whatever situation in order to deliver justice to the Rohingyas. If we cannot stop the Rohingya genocide today, next we will celebrate the 100 years of Rohingya genocide. This will be recorded in the history as our failure to end the Rohingya Genocide in the 21st century.
We would like to stress that the timely interventions and international support to the Rohingya and the people of Myanmar are very crucial at this time, and the delayed actions definitely sacrifices more lives than ever.Failing to act on violations of international law perpetrated against the Rohingya creates a sense of impunity & encourages an escalation of abuses. We are witnessing a repeat of this mistake happening in Arakan State, now called Rakhine State.
We thank everyone who becomes part of our journey in our search for safety and protection. We hope one day we become just like you – a free person with rights and dignity.
We all ask if we return to our homeland with full rights, peace, safety, dignity, and justice. #Myanmar #EndingRohingyaGenocide #EndingAtrocitiesInMyanmar #RestoreDemocracyInMyanmar

Abu Toyoub was born stateless in Kutupalong camp, Bangladesh. 35 years old. No passport, no birth certificate, no country that claims him.
He's been admitted to grad school in Canada. He needs $21,000 and a document no state will give him.
"I am a dreamer who refuses to let borders, labels, or circumstances define how far I can go."

Zafar was never operating in the shadows. For years he appeared openly at official functions, met prime ministers, ministers and senior officials, including Badawi, Mahathir and Ibrahim. He publicly represented MERHROM under its own name. MERHROM’s advocacy was similarly public. That is how he got to meet these people. It sought meetings with government, spoke to the Malaysian press and engaged officials over refugee policy. Now Malaysia is prosecuting him for managing and representing an “unregistered” organisation. These photographs leave an obvious question - after decades in plain sight, why has MERHROM’s lack of registration suddenly become a criminal matter?

We have waited for justice.
We have waited for accountability.
We have waited for a safe return home.
And we have waited for the international community to turn its commitments into meaningful action.
We cannot wait indefinitely.
Let us take the step toward concrete action.
Let the genocide verdict strengthen accountability.
Let international cooperation create the conditions for sustainable repatriation.
Let us not allow another generation of Rohingya children to grow up without hope, freedom, rights and a homeland they can safely call home.

The Myanmar Rohingya Ethnic Human Rights Organization in Malaysia (MERHROM) requests that humanitarian issues related to the community not be manipulated to various other issues, especially the issue of local threats.
The president of MERHROM, Zafar Ahmad Abdul Ghani said the fact is that the 126,144 ethnic Rohingya refugees in this country are almost at a loss for the direction of their lives. When contacted by Buletin TV3, he informed that most of them are now "bound" in Malaysia, which should only be a stopover country before being sent to a third country. "How long can we return to our own country or a third country. Even if we go to a third country, they won't take many Rohingya. Why? Because we are Muslims.
Countries that accept all non-Muslim countries, just how many countries, they accept refugees (Rohingya) little by little, so all roads for us are closed, all roads for Rohingya are closed.
If you want to go home, you can't go back to your country of origin. You can't even go to a third country. Now, there are countries that are living with all kinds of challenges," he said.
He explained that the majority of Rohingya refugees in this country want to return to their country of origin if they are guaranteed safety.
At the same time, he also appealed to the Rohingya refugee issue in Malaysia to be viewed with full empathy as refugees from other countries.
Palestine is the same area. As a people, we also have solidarity. At the same time, others forget about the Rohingya.
Everyone focuses on the issue of sympathy with Palestine. Forget the Rohingya. Let the Rohingya die. This is not good. As a people, we are all together," he said.
He also explained that, despite often being viewed negatively, the majority of the Rohingya community in this country still respects and maintains relations with the local population, besides never asking for any privileges as claimed on social media.
We have never asked for equal rights, never asked for citizenship, and never asked for Selayang. A few people who don't like Rohingya, he is the one who created (slander). I ask that this issue be investigated, who started it," he said.
