Ground deformation be4 a volcanic eruption is primarily caused by processes related to the movement, accumulation, and pressurisation of magma and associated fluids (gas + water) beneath the surface, specially, H2O, CO2 and SO2

To hike down Mount Teide after visiting the geochemical stations at 3,555m high is a must.
The huge phonolitic lavas + their big accretionary lava balls impress everyone.

Volcanic Monitoring by I.G.N. @IGNSpain
Volcanoes are monitored using various methods to detect changes that indicate an impending eruption, such as seismic activity, ground deformation, and gas emissions.

To study #hydrovolcanism is one of the main topics of 2025 #VolcanoCamp by @GeoTenerife.
#Tenerife shows amazing outcrops associated to these explosive events.
Urban plannings on the island should consider this risk to avoid future disasters.

Tenerife, in central-western part of the archipelago, is the largest island and hosts the third-largest volcanic structure on Earth. It has seen highly explosive eruptions, which form calderas + pyroclastic density currents, as well as effusive mafic eruptions at its rift zones.
Lava tubes offer a whole range of research possibilities and part of the VolcanoCamp Extension Programme is related to them in collaboration with the @IGME1849

Hoping that after the first storm, a second one could recharge our water reservoirs and aquifers.
