The closest thing you can get to US-only tech layoff data is to look at WARN data (gov-mandated layoff reporting).

Pretty sure "nationwide" is incorrect. @Layoffsfyi aggregates layoff data happening in the US AND internationally.

Not very much, according to @WARNTracker data.
In our analysis of Meta WARN data from the 2022 Q4 layoffs we found only 16 data science employees laid off of 2746 total in California
