A quick update - couple of challenges overlooked - doing radiation in the next week - along with an appropriate hormone blocking drug - to deal with two prostate cancer tumours - my sixth round of this cancer in the last 25 years - a manageable process.
Still challenging - foot drop / nerve damage - working on pretty cool frequency / magnetic / energy based protocols to help with function and hopefully recovery.
Treatment? Am totally onside with plans. Walking with a cane? Am not enjoying - but certainly believing in the future. Am a very happy camper (ie grandpa for 9!)
My update - turning 70 in a year today - you can do the math - am rather looking forward to the decade ahead.
Health update - I wrapped recovery from a stroke 2 years ago this week - and then managed to join a very exclusive "double ostomy" club (less than ten thousand in Canada I am told) during 2025.
Bumping along well now - so let's roll!

This win for logic and respect in BC is a win for AB and SK
And Canada.

Remarkable leadership. Great campaign. Undeniable mandate from British Columbians for positive change.
Thank you, British Columbia.
Tonight, you voted for change. You voted for a government that will listen, keep life affordable, and never take your hard-earned money for granted.
I want to thank every volunteer who knocked on doors, made calls, and put up signs in the rain. I want to thank our candidates, who stepped forward in a snap election with no time to spare. And I want to thank my wife Shelley and my family for standing beside me every step of the way.
To those who didn’t vote for us: I will work just as hard for you. This is your government too.
The work starts now. Let’s get to it.
Hard to eliminate fossil fuels eh?
Today broke grey and raw for New Democrats here in BC: last night was a body blow.
This morning I’m sending solidarity and care to all the progressive organizers - within and beyond electoral politics - who have worked tirelessly over so many years in this province.
It is thanks to your unending effort that we have won and defended all our social gains: queer and disability rights, Indigenous rights, childcare and public health, working conditions and unionization, universal public services and more.
None of these victories came without struggle. And that struggle must continue now, to protect them in every way we can.
But not today. Today is a day to feel all the feelings, find comfort and get some rest.
Tomorrow we rise to fight again.
Legacy Media is dumping on the moronic previous Premier of B.C.
I encourage all to just focus on this very impressive next Premier. He won largely because folks in BC very quickly came to appreciate - not just seek ByeByeEby.

Huge respect to a man who stepped into the breach while his party was melting down, on Day One of an election.
He brought order and calmness out of chaos, and led his party to one of the most dramatic turnarounds in Canadian political history.
Thank you, British Columbia.

Congratulations to BC Premier-elect @LDoerkson and the new BC Conservative government on today’s impressive win.
We are never going to agree on football teams but I know there are a lot of other areas where we will work together to build our provinces within a strong and united Canada.

BC was built by trailblazers with nothing but a dream and the determination to make it real.
That spirit is still here. It deserves a government that has its back.

Congratulations to Lorne Doerksen @LDoerkson on becoming the next Premier of British Columbia.
Alberta and British Columbia share strong economic ties and common interests, from trade and energy to transportation and economic growth. I look forward to working with Premier designate Doerksen on shared priorities and advancing the interests of people in both provinces, including unleashing Canada’s potential as an energy superpower.
I also want to acknowledge David Eby @Dave_Eby for his service as Premier. While we did not always see eye to eye, I appreciated the opportunity to work together on issues important to both provinces.

🚨Stockton Report🚨
Canada is drowning in a fraud crisis—and almost all of it traces straight back to immigration.
Worse—Canadians are bankrolling the housing supply in their own communities to make it happen.

The most important election in a generation.
Saturday, October 24th, British Columbia decides.
Make your voice heard. Vote.

I have to say, David Eby and the NDP have run what is perhaps the worst election campaign of my lifetime.
Devoid of any positivity, any coherent rationale for why they deserve to be re-elected.
Filled with embarrassing gaffes (see Eby’s $10/day daycare) and a total lack of policy or rhetorical imagination.
31 days into the campaign, they can’t even articulate why they called this election in the first place.
All they have left is fearmongering, division and misinformation.
Tomorrow, October 24th, let’s vote for a change.

So the NDP lied? Huh. Think about that when going to the polls tomorrow.
Not sure what the @bcndp is talking about, saying @LDoerkson is avoiding the media. Chad Hipolito & i spent a whole day with him this week for a knockout story we're doing (stay tuned!!). Matthew Sweeney (and I) as Lorne arrives carrying his luggage. Photo by Chad.

Starting January 4, every school in Alberta will proudly fly both the Canadian and Alberta flags, and any other flags will only be temporarily displayed when they serve a clear educational, commemorative or community purpose.
Let’s teach our children to celebrate our amazing country and province.

Yup. This type of thing is one of the reasons so many Albertans are frustrated. Lessons can be learned to unite our nation, or establishment voices will keep alienating and the next vote will be to leave. And its worse that tax dollars paid for it. @CBCNews, do better.

The vote is finally over.
- When I wrote my post on judicial nihilism motivating Albertans to want greater control over naming judges the final vote tally still showed a thin majority. Same with abolishing the Senate, which is now 50.7 against to 49.3 in favour.
But clear majorities want immigration controls (55pc); limited and paid access to publicly funded benefits for new migrants (52-53pc) and proof of citizenship to vote (58pc).
A quarter of voting Albertans wanted to go to an independence referendum. He argument that prevailed - led by the Premier and others is that the existing federalist structure can evolve and work.
Given the results of the first five questions and the even split on abolishing the Senate, Alberta has an opportunity to make changes to immigration and senate representation that can prove its smarter to upgrade the existing federalist system rather than reject it entirely.
“Judicial Nihilism”
Brilliant post by @EricLombardi and a great new phrase to describe what’s going wrong in the Canadian judiciary.
A majority of Alberta voters decided they want to take back control over judicial nominations in the province after a slate of horrific and indefensible judgements made by partisan activists across the country.

Perhaps Andrew Coyne should spend less time lecturing Albertans and more time understanding them. Dismissing their views as government-funded hysteria isn’t analysis. It’s arrogance masquerading as insight.
