Insane sky at Quincy vs. Stoughton with the storm approaching. Now these are Friday Night Lights!

Well, that’s it. With the Red Sox 4-3 Game 1 win over the Cubs, Boston heads to the Bronx on Tuesday for the Wild Card series vs. the Yankees. Rivalry renewed.

With the Red Sox losing 1-0 to the Guardians and the White Sox beating the Royals 9-1, this scenario is still in play heading into the weekend.

The Red Sox would be the 3rd Wild Card seed and travel to either Houston or Texas (Arlington). I think this unlikely path is a better outcome for Boston’s chances of advancing to the ALCS and potentially beyond that. Thoughts? (3/3)

In this case, the White Sox would win the AL Central and get the bye. The Red Sox and Guardians would have equal 85-77 records, with 3-3 head to head, but Cleveland has a much stronger intra-division record so they would get the 2nd Wild Card seed and play in the Bronx. (2/3)

I did the math and there is one crazy scenario in which the Red Sox would not go to the Bronx. • Guardians beat Red Sox Thursday  • Guardians win 2 of 3 vs. Royals this weekend • Cubs sweep Red Sox • White Sox win final 4 games (1/3)

Friday Night Lights: Game of the Week! Essex Tech (0-1) vs. Wakefield (1-0) It’s a great one, so far. 15-13 Warriors lead at the half.

The Patriots just announced that Stephon Gilmore will officially announce his NFL retirement tomorrow afternoon at Gillette. As a Patriot. He had 4 seasons here and in 2019 was the Defensive Player of the Year with 6 INTs. Won a Super Bowl the year before.

One of the best slides at home to avoid a tag you will see. Caleb Durbin is an all-in scrapper. That’s my kind of baseball. 5-4 Red Sox reclaim the lead.
