Whenever Turkey is questioned, their entire defence boils down to “Turkey was the first country to feed us” or “Turkey trains our soldiers.” Their argument begins and ends with dependency, as though food aid and military training place a foreign country above scrutiny. Either we judge every foreign power by the same standard, or we stop pretending this is about Somalia’s sovereignty.

I see little difference between the current roles of #Turkey 🇹🇷 and the #UAE 🇦🇪 in Somalia both are pursuing their own strategic and commercial interests. The UAE has established itself in northern Somalia, while Turkey has expanded its influence in the south. Somalia has a serious problem with foreign powers becoming too comfortable and overstepping their boundaries. The hypocrisy of those who condemn one country while sugar-coating Turkey’s involvement. No foreign government should interfere in our internal politics, and Somalia’s resources must be protected not handed over without transparency or public scrutiny. These resources belong to the Somali people, and they have every right to know what agreements are being made, who benefits from them, and what their country receives in return. Handing everything to foreign powers is not a path to sovereignty or prosperity.
