The one guy that the Sox should have back hopefully is Brooks Baldwin It became forgotten the growth Brooks showed in 2025, especially at the plate Barring him being healthy and ready for 2027, he’s gonna be a welcomed depth addition back onto the main roster 🙏🏽 #WhiteSox
Replying to @StonecoldSxnick
Especially with my boy Brooks coming back. Mune and Grich can be the DH guys while rotating Sam, Chase, Caleb, Vargas, and Colson in the field while waiting for Roch.

The overwhelming majority of players belong in junior colleges. Why Juco? 100% scholarship (most cases) vs 25% scholarship. Two seasons (fall and spring). Immediate playing time (most cases). Smaller classes. Younger players. Less restrictions on coach's time spent with players. Draft and four year options open. Learn to grind.

At some point, baseball has to get back to valuing ballplayers and not just numbers on a screen. Give me the Freddie Freemans, the Buster Poseys, Hunter Pences, Pablo Sandovals, Michael Youngs, Ian Kinslers of the world. Guys who just flat out know how to play the game. Everyone wants to talk launch angle and exit velo, but what happened to valuing a quality at bat?” The 9-pitch battle that might end in an out, but forces a pitcher to show everything he’s got. The guy who hits behind the runner, takes what’s given, or just refuses to give a pitcher an easy inning. Those at-bats might not look sexy in the box score, but they show up in the 7th, 8th, and 9th. Some of these dudes could absolutely leave the yard too. That’s the point. They weren’t one-dimensional. Somewhere along the way, we confused measurable tools with knowing how to win baseball games. I’m not against analytics or hitting the ball hard, but there is an art to winning that you can’t fully measure. We need more guys who know how to play baseball, not just hitters, not just athletes, ballplayers. And I promise you, those dudes never go out of style

Grant Taylor in the biggest game of his career. 4 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 6 K 42 pitches, 34 strikes The single greatest relief appearance by a White Sox pitcher I have ever seen.

Imagine going to remove Bob Gibson from a playoff game in the 5th inning. They’d have to roll you back to the dugout in a coffin.

Just had a student-athlete receive his second college scholarship offer. Our head coach spoke with the college coach, and these were the questions they asked: • How is his home life? • How are his academics? • How is he in the weight room? • Is he coachable? • Does he pick up on concepts? • Are his parents a problem? • Is he a complainer? • Does he run track? • What is his legitimate size? Not one question about his stats. Not a single one. College coaches are evaluating the whole person. Character. Family. Academics. Work ethic. Coachability. Football IQ. Physical development. Attitude. The scoreboard matters. The film matters. The production matters. But when a college coach is deciding whether they want to invest in a young man for the next four years, who he is matters just as much as what he does on Friday night. That’s why we talk so much about building the person, not just the player. The game may get you noticed. Your character determines what happens next. @CoachJonWheeler

Facts.
Turns out that @MLB pitcher’s aren’t throwing harder than the pitcher’s from previous eras. It’s just being measured differently like we have all been saying. More are definitely trying to throw hard but the human body has limitations folks. Batting averages are down and strikeouts are up because hitters are swinging up and trying to hit the ball in the air and their bats are cutting through the zone instead of staying through the zone like they should. It’s not rocket science folks! Just use your eyes and you’ll see it too! Wait til the #nerds see this! #shegone @notgaetti @BobFile @billdubs @iamrags @artofhitting @hittingguru7 @slider_sinker @SliderDom @low_and_outside @TheRealJHair @MoVaughn_42 @DMEASrecruiting @VandyonTigers @mikepiazza31 @KevinKennedyMLB @SalMarinello @RVGDag @AMBS_Kernan @TheKineticArm @WillClark22 @MLB

HYPOTHETICALLY… IF I BOUGHT MY HOUSE FOR $125,000 IN 2002 AND THE COUNTY NOW SAYS IT’S WORTH $487,000, WHERE DID I ACTUALLY MAKE $362,000? Did I sell it? No. Did I receive $362,000? No. Did somebody hand me a check for the new assessed value? Obviously not. But my property taxes still go up because, on paper, my house is suddenly worth hundreds of thousands more. That’s the part that doesn’t make sense to me. This isn’t income. It isn’t cash sitting in my bank account. It’s a number someone assigned to my property, and now I’m being billed based on that number. If my stock portfolio doubles but I don’t sell, I haven’t turned that gain into cash. If my salary stays the same, I don’t suddenly owe more income tax because someone thinks I’m worth more. So why does owning a home work differently? WHY AM I PAYING TAX ON A GAIN I NEVER REALIZED? A house isn’t just an investment. It’s where people live. You can pay off the mortgage, own the property outright, and still face a bigger bill every year because the value of the house went up on paper. At some point, you have to ask what “owning” something actually means if the cost of keeping it can keep rising because of money you never received. THIS ISN’T ABOUT WHETHER THE HOUSE IS “WORTH” MORE. IT’S ABOUT BEING CHARGED FOR VALUE YOU NEVER TURNED INTO CASH. And people are starting to notice.

The Red Sox pulled their two best starters after throwing 83, and 70 pitches, respectively. And got outscored 17-2. Analytics to your heart’s content. ‘OK Boomer’ me all you want. But I promise a LaRussa or Leland going by the ‘80s book has a better shot of making this a series

So Chris Sale is still performing at an elite level at 38… and he’s doing it how? Not by throwing plyo balls? Not by using water bags or belts or pvc pipes? By throwing a 5oz baseball on a consistent basis and staying in shape… what a crazy concept… who would have thought? 🙋🏻‍♂️

HERE WE GO AGAIN WITH THE VELOCITY BULLSHIT. And this time it’s right on MLB.com. Travis Sawchik has a new article today telling us again how much nastier October pitching is, throwing Stuff+, wOBA, whiff rates and velocity numbers at everybody like we’ve suddenly entered some brand-new version of baseball. LOOK AT THE VELOCITY. LOOK HOW HARD EVERYBODY THROWS NOW. LOOK AT ALL THESE NUMBERS. Every year it’s another metric, another algorithm and another big number telling us the game has somehow been reinvented. And once again, everybody blows right past PERCEIVED VELOCITY. A guy throwing 96 can play at 98 or 99 because of extension, release point and where the hitter picks up the baseball. Now remember something: we had starters in the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s and early 2000s throwing 94, 95, 96, 97 and reaching 100. So stop acting like today’s velocity is some alien shit baseball has never seen before. Are there MORE guys throwing hard today? YES. I’ll give you that. But here’s the other side nobody wants to put on the front page: THE COMMAND AND CONTROL OF TODAY’S PITCHERS IS HORRIBLE. You want to know why so many starting pitchers are sitting at 80 pitches in the fourth or fifth inning? THIS SHIT. Max effort on damn near every pitch. Trying to light up the radar gun. Missing spots. Falling behind. Running deep counts. Fouling pitches off because nothing is being commanded. And next thing you know, the starter is at 75, 80, 90 pitches before he can even get through five innings. Watch enough games and you see it constantly. These guys can barely get through five because too many of them are THROWING instead of PITCHING. Velocity. Spin. Stuff+. Max effort. Great. How about getting strike one? How about putting the fastball where you want it? How about changing speeds? How about getting a hitter out in three or four pitches instead of throwing eight? That’s pitching. Give me 94–96 with command, control, location and the ability to change speeds over 99 with no idea where the hell it’s going. Velocity is part of pitching. IT IS NOT PITCHING. And MLB needs to stop selling every new radar-gun number like we’ve never seen this shit before. We have. #MLB #Baseball #Pitching #Velocity #MLBPlayoffs #SheGone03 #TheHugeShow

Every HS and college player in America (even 10 and up players these days) … and their parents …need to read these words of a long time MLB Scout. Why? Players don’t seem to believe it when us coaches tell them the same thing. Some do. Most don’t.
A message from every professional baseball scout to every high school and college potential baseball prospect. We're always watching! EVERY. SINGLE. LOOK. Pregame work. I/O. BP. Bullpens. Intrasquads. Scrimmages and regular season games. Every one of those is a look — and every look is being written down. How you run to first base… or do you run to first base. How you move on the field and off the field. How you throw between innings. How you take BP when you think no scout is watching. How you execute pitches in a side session or between innings warming up. How you handle or process a poor at bat. Whether you’re coachable or whether you’re not. And how you treat your teammates. First one on the field? Last one off the field? It’s ALL being noted. All of it. Get to the Big Leagues first—before trying to act like those in the TV league. You’re not. Scouts aren't just evaluating your tools. We're evaluating everything: your habits, your effort, your work ethic, and your character. The player who gives effort every rep stands out — because so few do it consistently. Newsflash…Scouts don’t care about your “ranking” or what publications write about you (positive or negative). Scouts don’t care how much NIL money you’re getting, or if you’re getting any at all. We’ll make our own evaluations and our own decisions. Be intentional. Play hard. No matter the setting, the score, the competition or who's in the stands. When you don't, you're only hurting yourself, and you’re to blame. There is not much you can control in this game — but the one thing you can control is your effort, your work ethic, and your hustle. Because when you least expect it, someone is ALWAYS watching, and you never know which look is the one that matters. Winners Win! Make. Every. Look. Count.
