Jesus crashes into our life two ways: come and live and then go and die. @rayortlund – at South Carolina, USA
RT @DavidBahnsen: Just think about the fact that in 2026 this has to be written. The left couldn’t decide what a boy and girl were in 2021…

I was asked to give a lecture next week at a church in Minnesota on what I see as the most pressing issues facing Christians. Here's my rundown I'm working on for my lecture.
— The beginning of life: Reproduction and human dignity.
— The manufacture of life: Genetic engineering and designer children.
— The simulation of life: Artificial intelligence and digital personhood.
— The enhancement of life: Transhumanism and human augmentation.
— The embodiment of life: Biological sex and bodily identity.
— The commodification of life: Surrogacy and reproductive markets.
— The manipulation of life: Surveillance, algorithms, and human agency.
— The extension of life: Longevity and the pursuit of immortality.
— The quality of life: Disability, dependency, and the meaning of dignity.
— The end of life: Assisted suicide and euthanasia.
In a word: bioethics.
The central moral question of our age is increasingly whether human nature is a gift to be received, enhanced beyond our native capacities, or a problem to be solved.
Christians need to be prepared to answer it. I am confident that our doctrine of the imago Dei, coupled with the Christian natural law tradition, provides a sufficient basis and bulwark to guide civilization, if civilization will entertain them.
I really enjoyed this @DemarsSean and appreciate Michael’s clarification on historic premill, which I wondered about while listening. Both of you please keep up the fantastic work!
A student of mine directed me to this podcast with @DemarsSean and @danielghummel. Great questions, great answers, great tone. A fair, nuanced historical perspective on the history of dispensationalism. I highly recommend it. Two very minor quibbles:
1) My “Fathers on the Future” book doesn’t intend to place any system of dispensationalism in the early church. My own lay-friendly account of the history of dispensationalism in my chapter in “Dispensationalism and the History of Redemption” makes it clear that the stable pattern of doctrines and interpretations that make up Dispensationalism only coalesce in the nineteenth century. As far as eschatology goes, earliest fathers are actually premillennial, futurist, and take many elements quite literally, and their view of the assumption of the church is not as clear as various advocates of any modern view wish it was.
2) At times in the interview there appears to be some equivocation between “historicist premillennialism” and “historic premillennialism.” These aren’t the same thing. Historicism is a view of Revelation as a kind of charitable map through church history as its prophecies progressively unfold, as opposed to, say, preterism and futurism. Historic premillennialism is the claim that the non-dispensational view of premillennialism is not the same as that of the early church, though the earliest premillennialists appear to have been primarily futurist in their view of Revelation (though, like most throughout church history, they expected the end was near).
Besides these minor tweaks, which are very, very minor, I appreciated the @RoomForNuance_ discussion.
Yo this is awesome!

“The New Right judges American conservatism by its failures and Europe’s alternatives by their promises, then calls importing them ‘America First.’”
Excellent.
Want to know what American conservatism/exceptionalism conserved?
Look no further than where it never existed but the New Right has: Europe.
The European right got the deal today’s postliberals want.
Christian Democrats ruled Italy, West Germany, and Austria for decades. Franco held Spain for 36 years, Salazar’s regime held Portugal for 4 decades, and Ireland wrote the Church into its constitution. Faith and family had the state behind them.
They conserved a Western Europe that is now among the least religious places on earth. The lowest birthrates on the continent sit in the countries with the deepest Catholic politics.
Spain, 4 decades of National Catholicism later, has the 2nd lowest birthrate in the EU. Italy’s Christian Democrats governed for nearly 50 years and left behind a pension state.
The family wage they promised never arrived.
Give the state the job of protecting faith and family and they get protected for exactly as long as it pays politically to protect them.
American conservatives created a jurisdictional guardian instead. The Founders barred Washington from establishing a national church, so faith never answered to whoever held federal power.
Divide power, protect property, keep markets open, and leave churches, families and states to run their own affairs. Reaganism revived it.
That order also built the largest economy and strongest military on earth, in a country where people still go to church.
What exactly makes the European record a reason to abandon those principles?
The New Right judges American conservatism by its failures and Europe’s alternatives by their promises, then calls importing them “America First.”

Parasitoid wasps inject eggs into a caterpillar. The larvae hatch, eat the host’s insides, and hijack its brain to make it do their bidding. Still looks like a caterpillar from the outside, but it now exists to serve the parasite. This is what online gambling has done to sports.

I can’t think of a worse decision any sport has ever made.
CFB went from the best regular season in sports to games becoming completely meaningless in a matter of a few years.
Big upsets? Who cares?
UGA loses 3 games as a double digit favorite? Who cares they’re still in.
Rivalry games played with backups are gonna become the norm. Why would 2 teams locked in risk any injuries.
Just so dumb.
But hey maybe FSU can make it once every 5 years or so now.
Breaking: The College Football Playoff is nearing a deal to expand to 24 teams, sources tell @PeteThamel.
The new format will start in 2027 and is expected to come together in the near future, pending final approvals.
Can we please get the soft porn ads off playoff broadcasts, TBS, Fox, NBC, @MLB? My son wants to watch baseball with Dada, but how do I justify that when a half-naked women could come on screen anytime?? This is America’s Pastime. Parents shouldn’t have to worry about this.
Hey @MLB - wanna get more kids watching baseball?
Maybe start with the commercials.
Watching the playoffs tonight with my kids and here's the rundown:
- Megan Fox selling ED pills in a red bodysuit
- The scariest movie trailer you've ever seen
- Sydney Sweeney in zero clothes promoting betting on sports
Leagues can't figure out why kids don't watch.
You don't need a Nickelodeon game. You're not the Savannah Bananas.
Just show baseball in a way I can leave on in my house.
I really enjoyed this!
A new project I’ve been dreaming about for some time is finally live (Faculty Lounge).
One of the things I’m most excited about is getting to talk about the things I care most about with people I spend time with every week.
My hope is that this long-form video podcast will help you think more deeply about these topics while also giving you a window into the conversations, relationships, and culture at @MBTS.
I’m excited to share it with you!
You can find it on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts.

I’ve given Kirk Herbstreit some grief lately, so I’d like to give him his flowers.
If he didn’t call Dylan Raiola’s dad & tell him Raiola should flip from Georgia to Nebraska in the 9th hour, the Dawgs may have been in trouble.
Thanks for that @KirkHerbstreit
