At #LeadHerWay, Angela Nguku reflected on movement building: putting women at the centre, listening, organising and building collective power & action “We cannot keep watering the leaves while starving the roots.” This is what we’ve been building over the years.
Tomorrow, our Founder & ED, Angela Nguku, joins #LeadHerWay to share lessons from building a women-led movement for reproductive, maternal & newborn health & the power of collective action to shape lasting change. 🗓️ 20 Aug | 8:00–9:00 AM EAT 🔗 forms.gle/ytAQLtfVcq6fYpm87

"I will teach women about their rights when they go to the clinic..." 🩺 Watch Joseph, a CHP from Namoruph, Turkana, explain how training on Respectful Maternity Care and Community Scorecard has equipped him to advocate and sensitize mothers in his village on their rights.

Turkana is changing. In 2014, 49% of women had 4+ ANC visits and 23% of births were attended by skilled providers. By 2022, this rose to 58% and 53%. Today, women like Esinyen are choosing skilled care. Behind every percentage is a woman. Today they choose better & different

In Turkana County, advancing #MNH means using what is already within the community. Local women serving as CHPs speak the language, understand the culture and build trust with mothers. When health information is local, accessible and trusted, better outcomes for mothers & babies

3 yrs ago, Eremet Health Centre in Isiolo faced challenges including a shortage of healthcare providers, affecting access to care. Through community advocacy, these gaps were addressed. Today, the facility has more skilled providers, bringing quality care closer to the community

Last week in Isiolo, we used Community Scorecards from our Power On Toolkit to turn maternal health realities into evidence. 📋✨By grading facility quality, dignity & availability, women & health workers co-create solutions together. #AskListenAct #CommunityScorecards #RMC

Happy International Self-Care Day from Isiolo County. As #SelfCareMonth closes, we celebrate women & girls who we continue to remind that self-care is a right. From adolescence to menopause, every stage of life matters. We call for health information & systems that listen
65
In parts of Isiolo, some still believe slapping a woman in labour is “necessary.” It isn’t. It’s abuse. At @WRA_K , we’re shifting this; ending obstetric violence, sharing safe practices, and promoting dignity in childbirth. #RespectfulMaternityCare

Health information is power. When women and girls have the right information at the right time, they can make informed decisions about their health. At @WRA_K , we listen, amplify voices and work to make health information accessible. #SelfCare #MNH

Self-care starts with the right information. When women & girls have accurate, timely & trusted health information, they can understand their bodies, recognise warning signs, make informed decisions & seek care when needed. At @WRA_K, we work to ensure info reaches communities

What does self-care really mean for women & girls? 🌿We asked women across Kenya. The reality? It is about dignity & health. Yet, structural barriers dictate if they actually can practice it.What does self-care mean to you? 👇#InHerLifetime #WhatWomenWant
