I have a sudden and overwhelming sense that everything is going to be quite alright.
This is a brilliant piece of reporting by @WTMAtkinson and John Power….

Best anecdote in Carol Thatcher's book about her father is when Sir Denis boarded a train at Paddington in which the only empty compartment was reserved for Rosewood Psychiatric Hospital. Denis travelled alone and in comfort as far as Reading when "all these chaps piled in", accompanied by a male nurse, who counted them before the train moved off. 'One, two, three, four ... who are you?" "I'm the Prime Minister's husband." "Six, seven, eight, nine..."

The Government claims that closer ties with the EU would boost growth. How disingenous. There is no reason to suggest that we would not face the same low-growth, low-productivity future as France and Germany if we were to rejoin. Rather than face facts, Burnham hides his head in the sand. My latest for @CityAM👇

Britain is £3 trillion in the red. The amount we pay on servicing this debt is absurd. We must get ourselves into a position where we can spend sensibly on defence, education and healthcare without further indebting ourselves. This requires tough cost-saving measures. But is Labour up to the task? My latest in The @DailyMail👇

The race is bitterly divided on the issue of a transcontinental railroad.
The two candidates for Missouri House of Representatives District 158 have something in common. Left: incumbent R - Scott Cupps Right: D - Chris Foster

"Since 2019, the National Living Wage (NLW) has risen by 48 per cent, whilst output per hour has increased by a meagre 2.9 per cent. As of April 2026, the minimum cost of hiring a new full-time equivalent employee in Britain is £28,308.52." Businesses cannot absorb the continuous price hikes of labour whilst the economy remains stagnant. My latest for @TheCriticMag👇

Went to a student party in St Hughes College, Oxford in the mid 1990s. A random petite blonde girl I didn't know invited me to go and "frolic on the lawn". I don't really remember her name or what she looked like, but I am now perpetually worried I may have snogged Liz Truss.

The Canary didn’t give us much but it did give us perhaps the greatest bio of all time
The Canary will be closed for the foreseeable future. As of today (Monday 19 October), the Canary will be closed indefinitely. After multiple attacks this year, from Lloyds debanking us to former employees spreading malicious lies on social media, the situation has become unsustainable, both financially and operationally. After 11 years, we take this action with deep sadness and regret. The extent of the lies, defamation, and harassment by ex-staff - coupled with the constant attacks by the state and those who’d see us destroyed - has become too much. However, it is not over. This week, we will publish what really happened at the Canary and push back against the vicious campaign against our team and us. We may be down, but we’re not out yet.

The British nightlife industry is being squeezed out by rising taxes, exorbitant energy and employment costs, and a growing burden of regulation. The number of nightclubs has fallen by almost a third since 2020 and pubs are vanishing up and down the country. It’s time to stop making a night out harder to afford. My latest for the @spectator, featuring a trip to Northallerton's Club Amadeus, supposedly the 'Northeast's premier nightspot'👇

I am pretty supportive of legal restrictions on obscene material. However, "porn is fine but we are going to micromanage the specific fantasies you can indulge" is such a great microcosm of the 21st century progressive mind.
