And the core argument of "Never Trump" was never really high-minded idealism. It was that the man was so conspicuously odious, corrupt, self-serving, and unprincipled that he would cost conservatism in the long term and remake it into a personality cult in his image. 👀
A lot of the argument for Trumpism in the GOP these last ten rested on the always dubious claim that it offered a more potent political playbook than traditional conservatism. Expect to see a lot of furious blame shifting if next week goes as seems likely.

Caring for immigrants is a good thing— a Christian thing even. Let’s always remember that immigrants are made in the image of God, even the ones we don’t know, and we can speak of them as those worthy of dignity and respect.

Economic analysis shows that the Trump admin claimed they added 1,200,000 new jobs to the economy in 2025. They later corrected this number down to only 116,000 jobs, a 90% drop from their initial number.

When first reported, 2025’s jobs reports added up to 1.2 million new jobs. After revisions, the economy added just 116,000 — 90% less.

I don’t have a dog in this hunt, as I left @CTMagazine with different (directional) concerns several years ago, but I will say that we need Christianity Today to be thriving, evangelical, and journalistic. I’m praying that it will be.
Christianity Today has seen about half its staff quit or laid off in the last 14 mos. Former employees told me that new business leaders have intervened in editorial decisions & are effectively abandoning the outlet's commitment to independent journalism. nytimes.com/2026/10/21/us/ch…

Truly devastating news for family formation in America. Median mortgage payments doubled since just 2020 (!) from ☑️ $1040 in 2020 ☑️ $2056 in 2025 This matters because we know the cost of SFHs is a powerful predictor of marriage and childbearing.

“You Can See Everything” has generated a massive $15 million over its opening weekend. Director Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim’s much-hyped look at Elizabeth Holmes has secured the largest debut for any film playing on under 1,000 screens since 2006’s “Borat." It’s also the biggest opening for a documentary in over 20 years. bit.ly/4zIqxGv

We should be increasing economic pressure on Russia, not easing up. We need to use every tool at our disposal, including fully implementing the Graham sanctions and my REPO Act, to squeeze Putin until he ends his illegal and barbaric war in Ukraine. I have requested a classified briefing on the rationale for this decision. wsj.com/politics/policy/trum… via @WSJ

Beyond irresponsible. What part of enforcing a law passed 86-11 by the Senate does the President and his advisors not understand? It’s unconscionable that this administration is capitulating to a Russian dictator who illegally invaded Ukraine and butchers innocent civilians every single day. If the President wants to actually bring down energy prices, he can do it by solving the Iran problem, not by doing a solid for Vladimir Putin. apnews.com/article/russia-sa…
