Heidi Levine, photojournalist for @wapo suffered serious injuries from vicious & cowardly attack. Heidi is US Citizen, clear ID as journalist. Details of who under investigation, but those who attacked unarmed reporter should spend YRS in prison. We have called for a full investigation, arrest, and prosecution to the fullest extent of the law to whoever participated in this. Attacking a female photographer is despicable act of terror carried out by masked cowards. Dishonorable act of senseless violence.

To be clear: Some facts are neither in dispute nor unclear. Our photographer was clearly marked as Press. She was clearly beaten. These are not partisan or risible statements, but indisputable. We urge a thorough investigation and accountability.
The Prime Minister’s Office: The facts surrounding the confrontation near Abu Falah, during which Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine was allegedly assaulted, remain unclear and are under investigation. Israel unequivocally condemns violence against anyone—Jews, Arabs, Christians or journalists. Those responsible will be held accountable. But serious questions remain. Reports indicate some 200 Arabs and far-left activists confronted approximately 40 Israeli youths. Footage shows masked individuals on both sides hurling objects, amid reports of fireworks fired at Jewish youths. Other footage appears to show Levine knocked down and immediately helped to her feet by the same unidentified individual. The investigation must establish the facts, including who initiated the violence. We will not allow disputed incidents to be exploited to demonize the hundreds of thousands of law-abiding Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria. The facts must determine the conclusions. Not the headlines.

When the open-source AI platform Hugging Face was hit by a cyberattack this July, it quickly became clear this was no ordinary breach because the hackers weren’t human: they were autonomous agents created by OpenAI researchers. Instadocs: AI Gone Wild reconstructs the breach as it’s never been seen before. Premieres October 12.

In February, @TaraCopp and @marianne_levine exclusively reported the Coast Guard was investigating a swastika found drawn on a wall at a recruit training center in New Jersey. In response, Adm. Kevin Lunday, commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard, traveled to Training Center Cape May and held a mandatory meeting with nearly 900 recruits and staff members to address the incident. A delegation of N.J. congressional members wrote to then-DHS Secretary Kristi L. Noem, demanding that swastikas again be classified as hate symbols in the Coast Guard after a 2025 policy change. Following public and congressional backlash, the U.S. Coast Guard quickly reversed the policy change, once again explicitly banning swastikas as prohibited hate symbols. washingtonpost.com/impact

The Post conducted a year-long investigation to quantify for the first time how #measles vaccination rates at schools across the country had declined since the pandemic, including: - a data-rich animation showing county-level decline rates nationwide - a search tool revealing rates in local counties and school communities - the ability for parents to see vaccination rates at their child’s school  (cc @caitlinsgilbert, Joshua Lott, Dylan Moriarty, @LaurenWeberHP) washingtonpost.com/impact

In April, @TWallack reported on online college programs allowing students to take unlimited courses, leading to quick degrees and concerns about devaluing credentials. In another story on “degree hacking,” he put one of the platforms to the test and clicked his way toward a college degree in a matter of days. He got the attention of that platform, which soon made changes and began blocking students from downloading course materials. washingtonpost.com/impact

The @WashingtonPost was first to publish details about ICE's plans to retrofit warehouses into immigrant detention centers. Exclusive reporting by @dmac1 and @jocwapo drove conversation in city halls, county councils and legislatures in more than a dozen states, and was cited by several state attorneys general in lawsuits against the federal government, which has since acknowledged missteps and scaled back its plans. washingtonpost.com/impact
