Green Party MP Hannah Spencer claims nationalising energy will lower your bills. But moving costs from your energy bill to your tax bill isn't a saving, it’s a trap. Getting rid of shareholders doesn't get rid of the cost of producing energy. It just dumps the financial risk straight onto the British taxpayer. The truth? Our energy market isn't failing because it's a free market. It's failing because it’s already heavily state-managed and rigged against real competition. We need more power for consumers, not more power for politicians.

A £40 food shop cost £30 five years ago. But if you think greedy supermarkets are pocketing the difference, think again. Supermarket profit margins are only 2% to 4%. The real winner? The government. 🍞💰 Between business rates, fuel duty, energy levies, packaging taxes, and employer tax hikes, government policy adds at least 8p to 15p to a single loaf of bread, while the supermarket makes just 3p to 4p. Here is where your food money is actually going.

Why is Britain stuck with some of the worst inequality in Europe despite massive wealth redistribution? Because the state isn't giving you mobility, it's giving you a leash. Moving money on paper doesn't build anything. When state privilege and bureaucracy block you from starting a business or buying a home, true mobility remains out of reach. The real question isn't how much we redistribute. It's why you can't build wealth without the state.

"It's become effectively illegal to better yourself in Britain." Think the future of the UK is just about arguing over tax rates? The truth is much worse. We’ve stopped building, we’ve buried growth in millions of pounds of paperwork, and we’ve flatlined productivity since 2008. Gary Stevenson and the media want to referee a knife fight over a shrinking pie. Take every yacht because it changes nothing. The average person is missing out on thousands of pounds a year because the state won't let anyone create wealth anymore. We are on a fast track to extreme poverty if everything has to be a gift from the state. It’s time to stop fighting over crumbs and start making things again.
