Look at the Irish banks...what's the @centralbank_ie doing about this?
Both Spain and Italy have introduced windfalls taxes on banks for failing to pass through interest rates to savers. You might say their banks were asking for it.

The Scots rightly lament that they have only 4% natural woodland cover left.
But they should spare a thought for us here in Ireland, with only around 1%.
Both countries need a LOT more.
Where are the trees?
We have A LOT of this landscape and less than 4% native woodland. This landscape should be a rich mosaic of habitats, moor, bog, woodland, montane scrub… We force it to remain in this artificial state. We don’t need to give every inch of our uplands over to sheep, grouse and deer stalking. If we are serious about reversing biodiversity loss then we urgently need to choose a different path.

This image breaks me. At 2.7 degrees of warming, which is our present policy trajectory, two billion people will be exposed to extreme heat.
99.7% of those people live in the global South. People who have done nothing to cause this crisis. The injustice is staggering.

If you made $53,000 a day or $20 million per year since Jesus was born you would still not make the profit Shell made in 2022.
It’s time for Shell to Stop Drilling and Start Paying for the climate damage they’ve caused.

The double farce: G20 has failed to produce ANYTHING tangible internally, let alone attempt leading externally; and COP28 is meeting in Dubai, the 'leader' in fossil fuels extraction & use.
G20 should lead way on energy transition plans at COP28, event president says reut.rs/3Y9yx1u
