Pouring the wrong chemical on a football shirt will melt the fabric or cause catastrophic dye bleed in seconds. Vintage Lextra flock, paint-based flock, screen print, vinyl (HTV), and modern DTF all require completely different solvent chemistry.
To stop shirts getting ruined, we turned our workshop diagnostic system into a 10-second flowchart:
👉 Feel the print texture
👉 Check the backing & adhesive colour
👉 Match the exact safe solvent (and know when NEVER to touch chemicals) It’s 100% free to download.

A blood stain usually means a £200 vintage football shirt is ruined for good.
Most people reach for warm water and standard detergent—which permanently bakes the protein into the polyester yarn.
Here’s how we saved this iconic 1993/94 Arsenal away kit with a 2-step chemical breakdown 🧵👇
3/ The Full Masterclass
We documented the full step-by-step process, chemical safety, and dilution ratios in our latest YouTube deep dive.

2/ The 2-Step Chemistry Fix
Step 1: Digest the organic protein matrix at a molecular level using cold enzymatic chemistry.
Step 2: Apply a targeted reducing agent to dissolve the stubborn iron mineral shadow left behind in the yellow weave.
1/ The Science of Blood Stains
Blood is a compound stain: organic protein + iron mineral.
If you expose protein to heat above 30°C, it denatures and forms an irreversible chemical bond with the synthetic fabric. Cold treatment is non-negotiable.
A ruined nameset doesn't mean a classic £150 shirt is ready for the bin.
Here’s how we rescued this 2000 Arsenal away kit, stripped the damaged Marc Overmars 11 Lextra flock, and pressed a fresh, authentic nameset.
The 4-step restoration breakdown 🧵👇
3/ Halo Removal
Blot the remaining adhesive shadow with a secondary solvent pass and a clean microfibre towel to remove residue.
Use Spot Solve to remove solvent stains - then wash on 30.
2/ The Famous WFK Scraper
Never yank dry flock, it will leave loads of residue.
Use one of our famous scrapers under the edge, then slowly roll the Overmars 11 digits back along the fabric grain.

1/ The Reverse Alcohol Soak
Lextra flock adhesive penetrates deep into the Nike jersey knit.
Apply isopropyl alcohol directly to the inside of the shirt. Let it sit for 45–60 seconds to release the bond at the root without discolouring the yellow fabric.
🚨New Video Alert🚨
Most collectors ruin their shirts within the first 60 seconds of trying to remove a nameset.
I reviewed hundreds of community DMs and answered the 3 most common nameset removal questions in our latest video release - a full YouTube breakdown. 🤙🤙
