[admin] Hello, lovely people, I'm back! But only very briefly. I thought that I might keep this account going on an ad-hoc basis, but recent events have made me realise that promotion further use of what this platform has become is unconscionable.

[admin] The good news - I have been talking to some lovely people, and we plan to re-establish this concept on Mastodon/Fediverse. I was going to do it myself, which means it wouldn't happen. Now I am more an adviser, so very happy about that. 4/n

{admin] Hello, friends! Although this account is mothballed, I check notifications periodically and, today, was surprised to see someone replying to this account. And even more surprised that it was a reply to recent tweets from this account. 1/n

[admin] Twitter's security is utterly broken. A password reset through the help centre booted my phone off, so I am hoping it did so with the intruder, too. Assuming it was an intruder, and not mis-routing someone else's traffic. Anyway, this platform is BROKEN. 3/n

[admin] I had no notifications of logins, but could see a history of access. Immediate change of password, and enabled 2FA. NOTHING in the permitted/signed in apps list, and that includes the session I was already running from my phone. My message here is this... 2/n

WeRWorld is changing! Now in the 8th year of running this account, I (@smiffy) have decided to call time. It has been getting increasingly difficult to get hosts on a weekly basis, engagement with this account is dwindling, and the whole platform has degraded... 1/4

I'd like to thank everyone who has hosted, supported, and been part of this wonderful community. I have met so many wonderful people through this, this is why I have kept it running for so long. 4/4

[admin] ....closer to Old Twitter. I have, in a very short space of time, reconnected with the community that was Aotearoa Twitter, A lot of Science Twitter is there. I am @smiffy over there, and @GrumpySmiffy@aus,social on the Fediverse/Mastodon.

[admin] Huge (belated) thanks to the Eurovision team! I'm (@smiffy) back in hospital again, so glad I decided to switch this account to ad-hoc! (Please see pinned tweet thread.)

[admin] Is anyone able to contribute a suitable (non copyright) avatar we can use in between hosts? Anyone got anything interesting coming up, or just fancy hosting?
