Obsidian Mobile changes everything. It allows you to change your phone from a distraction machine into a learning machine! But ONLY if you use it correctly. And chances are: you aren't. Here's everything you're missing in Obsidian Mobile 馃憞

For years I have struggled with a plateau in my flatpicking speed I've played guitar for over a decade, but I struggle to stay consistent with speed exercises. They aren't fun, but they're important. So I built something to make building speed easier AND more fun. I call it Flatpick Labs It's still very much in beta, but I'm enjoying using it so far. If you want to peek behind the curtain, feel free:

Some thoughts on how I use @obsdmd and @mymind to cure my habit of doomscrolling, and instead replace it with a habit of creation and learning. 馃憞

Obsidian 1.15.1 is now available for early access! - Search is revamped with faster results, Relevance sort, and accent-insensitive matching. - New Android widgets! View notes on your home screen. - Web Viewer on mobile. Turn it on in Core plugins to open web pages from within Obsidian. Dozens of performance improvements and fixes across the app: - On desktop, the workspace now appears right away while Obsidian starts, with start-up progress in the status bar instead of a loading screen. - Large canvases now open, pan, and zoom much faster. - Smart lists prevents over-indenting list items. - New vaults no longer show the ribbon. - Live Preview: Opening a note no longer shows the Markdown syntax at the cursor (e.g. the ## of a heading on the first line) until you move the cursor or start typing. - Hold Ctrl/Cmd while picking a vault from the sidebar to replace the current window instead of opening a new one. - iOS Voice capture now starts a new line when you pause speaking for 2 seconds. - Android: Obsidian starts faster in vaults with large hidden folders, such as .git.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but: Creating good quality software is still hard. Yes LLMs can help. But it's still hard. Choose your challenge!

Replying to @obsdmd
@obsdmd definitely is the one app I couldn't live without. I use it to think, plan, explore and learn. Right now I am experimenting with "Obsidian Depot", a small plugin (inspired by Obsidian S3 Uploader) that aims to allow uploading+reading from private S3 compatible buckets.
Hey @kepano! I'm building a plugin that stores private attachments in S3 and references them in notes as myprofile://path/photo.jpg. Reading View and Live Preview work, but Bases/Canvas card covers stay empty, so I'm patching them through the DOM for now. Is there a better way to do this, or is it something you'd consider supporting?

Local voice capture 馃憖馃憖馃憖
Obsidian 1.15.0 (early access) is now available to Catalyst members! - Mermaid diagrams use our new rendering engine, Pele, which renders up to 500 times faster and uses your theme's colors and fonts. - Voice capture on iOS: Quick Capture can record and transcribe voice notes as you speak, even from the Lock Screen. - PDF export on mobile. - Smarter list editing: indenting or moving a list item now moves nested items too. - Accent-insensitive search: cafe matches caf茅 in suggestions. - New URI and CLI commands to append or prepend content under a heading. - Filters in Bases can now be reordered. - Community plugins load faster when Obsidian starts.

Before you clip anything with the Obsidian Web Clipper, ask yourself a simple question: What's the big idea I want to keep? If you have an answer to that question, go ahead and clip it, but write the big idea in your own words. If you can't do that, though, don't clip it!

This is Pele, my new rendering library for diagrams and charts, compatible with the latest Mermaid syntax. - 100-500脳 faster than mermaid.js - 6脳 smaller bundle - No dependencies - Easy to theme - Responsive to device width In pursuit of making Obsidian insanely fast and cohesively designed, I always found the Mermaid library to be too big, too slow, and too hard to theme. Pele will be the new renderer in the next version of Obsidian, but you can start using it now. Pele [藞p蓻l蓻] is named after the goddess of volcanoes and fire. It's open source under the MIT license. Try the playground!

ChoreFast is now a Base I LOVE the new Obsidian Kanban Base for chores. But for me it's missing two vital things: - The ability to reorder notes - A randomizer to help me choose the next task ChoreFast now supports both. Give it a try:
