Meanwhile turning on and off my lights at home relying solely on Zigbee and @WebThingsIO, no "app" from any manufacturer, no Internet connection needed.

Several years ago, I deployed @WebThingsIO on a Raspberry Pi with an 888-XU-Z11 Zigbee adapter to create an internal Internet of Things network for my house.

Another geekier detail but as it’s all IoT, relying on ZigBee and @WebThingsIO, the light can be dimmed from the browser.

Still not #solarPunk yet but now solar panels on the roof also help get salad and herbs🌞🌱 in the kitchen xitter.cf/utopiah/status/1526287… controlled by open-source #IoT w/ @WebThingsIO while I work on #XR in my home office. 🌞😎
It's not #solarpunk yet but cycling on a bike lane on an electric bike charged at home, sourced from wind farms & nuclear powerplants, does make me hope we are getting there.
If we want to.

My🎄Xmas tree runs on Linux🐧💗!
OK ok... it is total clickbait but let me clarify :
The lights on the tree are connected to a ZigBee plug controlled by a @Raspberry_Pi 4 with @WebThingsIO on Linux!
Why share? Because Xmas gifts & gadgets doesn't mean privacy nightmares.🎁

Replying to @WebThingsIO
@WebThingsIO is now closer to @W3C_WoT, it now uses forms instead of links in Thing Descriptions. We've just merged a PR fixing this long-standing issue github.com/WebThingsIO/gatew…

Tinkered so much with @WebThingsIO I wanted to restart from a clean slate.
Using the image for @Raspberry_Pi and the guide webthings.io/docs/gateway-ge… it took me 10min to be back, able to control my office Zigbee light-bulb using my keyboard shortcuts.
Pretty neat process 👌
