Brothers like @QtipTheAbstract enlightened the HIP HOP Earth about people such as Joni Mitchell & the late great Weldon Irvine. #TipElevates
Peace! Would love to speak with you about this and more. (DM)
Weldon Irvine touched my Art as a reaching friend. His loss always gave me the thought that I could’ve done more….. fanlink.to/WeldonIrvine
Our relationship, like most of the elders in the film, did not stop at the interview. Most became Big Bros, Big Sisters, Mentors. Mutual adoration. Maybe even Adulation. I didn't know Weldon Irvine - but his friends and family became mine. So i hurt for them today them & me
And here we are - just like the namesake of this page - the vanguards of the love Jazz produces are tasked with teaching the world his fcking name. And teaching the world that he was EXCEPTIONAL despite his rumored parents. Despite who sampled him.
Bernard Wright played - JAZZ - FUNK - GOSPEL - SOUL - R&B and whatever the heck he wanted...He was an EXCEPTIONAL talent. A cut above the rest.
I cried all day today. I cried for a Black Angel named Nard. An angel baby who deserved more, and more and more - life. He will Live Long. Forever.
Bernard, would simply say ' Weldon is the father 'God' wanted me to have". Weldon was his actual legal guardian though. Nard 'chose' his family. Brothers, Sisters and yes he chose his Mother and Father.
Writing my own personal thoughts from an account named after an ancestor I created a film about - sometimes is weird.
One of the many moments we were not able to include in the final cut of #DiggingForWeldonIrvine
This #outtake is from one of our first interviews, shot in Pasadena, Ca.
