Statement Issued by the Western Syria Alliance Regarding the Forced Alteration of Educational Curricula and its Impact on Cultural Diversity and Children's Rights
The radical and forced modifications made by the jihadi de facto regime in Syria to the educational and school curricula do not represent an ordinary event or a passing administrative measure. Rather, it is a systematic targeting of the fabric of Syrian society and its cultural and historical diversity, as well as an attempt to raise new generations on a monolithic, fanatical ideology.
Accordingly, we in the Western Syria Alliance (WSA) emphasize the following human rights and political points:
First: Imposition of Cultural Monolithism and Intellectual Terrorism: The imposition of these curricula leads to melting the religious and cultural diversity of the Syrian people into a single mold wrapped in extremism. This constitutes a literal practice of intellectual terrorism that isolates children from the values of tolerance, driving them toward insularity, innate bigotry, and social intolerance within the school environment.
Second: Systematic Targeting of Identity and History (Sectarian Exclusion): The deliberate erasure of the honorable history of resistance specific to the Alawite community and other Syrian components represents a process of "cultural and historical erasure and exclusion." It seeks to obliterate the collective national memory by canceling the identities of authentic components of the Syrian fabric, an action that is condemned and rejected in its entirety.
Third: Justification of Violations and Catastrophic Responses: What is even more dangerous than the processes of erasure, modification, and forcing female students to adhere to extremist dress codes is the official stance issued by the so-called "Ministry of Education" of the de facto authority. Its response to constructive criticism was filled with contradictions and fallacies, proving that this institution has transformed into a tool for enforced ignorance, the falsification of facts, and the entrenchment of gender discrimination against women and children.
Fourth: Manufacturing Extremism and Isolating Children from the World: We express our deep astonishment and strong condemnation of the voices defending these catastrophic changes under the pretext of serving the public interest. These curricula rob children of their freedom of thought and belief, and raise them with a narrow, inferior view of women as marginal elements or strangers to society, completely isolating Syrian childhood from the path of civilization and modernity.
Fifth: Militarization and Distortion of the Child Community: Al-Julani's authority did not stop at establishing special camps for children, similar to what are known as "Ashbal al-Ummah" (Cubs of the Nation) or products of extremist thought, but went beyond that to begin a systematic and comprehensive transformation of the Syrian childhood environment into an extremist environment that violates the International Convention on the Rights of the Child.
We in the West Syria Alliance urgently submit this statement to the United Nations, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), children's and women's rights associations, and all international human rights organizations. We call for immediate intervention and pressure to halt the process of enforced ignorance and cultural erasure targeting the children of Syria, and to protect their right to a neutral, pluralistic education that guarantees social peace.

صادر عن تحالف غرب سوريا حول التغيير القسري للمناهج التربوية وتأثيره على التنوع الثقافي وحقوق الطفل
إن ما أقدمت عليه سلطة الأمر الواقع الجهادية في سوريا من تعديلات جذرية وقسرية على المناهج التربوية والتعليمية، لا يمثل حدثاً عادياً أو إجراءً إدارياً عابراً؛ بل هو استهداف ممنهج لبنية المجتمع السوري وتنوعه الثقافي والتاريخي، ومحاولة لتربية أجيال جديدة على فكر أحادي متعصب.
بناءً على ذلك، نؤكد في تحالف غرب سوريا على النقاط الحقوقية والسياسية التالية:
أولاً: فرض الأحادية الثقافية والإرهاب الفكري: إن فرض هذه المناهج يؤدي إلى صهر التنوع الديني والثقافي للشعب السوري في قالب واحد مغلّف بالتشدد، مما يشكل ممارسة حقيقية للإرهاب الفكري الذي يعزل الأطفال عن قيم التسامح، ويدفع باتجاه التقوقع والتعصب الفطري والمجتمعي داخل البيئة المدرسية.
ثانياً: الاستهداف الممنهج للهوية والتاريخ (الإقصاء الطائفي): إن الحذف المتعمد للتاريخ المقاوم المشرف الخاص بالطائفة العلوية وبقية المكونات السورية يمثل عملية "إقصاء وتجريف حضاري وتاريخي"، ويسعى لمحو الذاكرة الوطنية الجامعة عبر إلغاء هويات مكونات أصيلة من النسيج السوري، وهو أمر مدان ومرفوض جملة وتفصيلاً.
ثالثاً: تبرير الانتهاكات والردود الكارثية: إن الأخطر من عمليات الحذف والتعديل وإلزام الطالبات بالقوانين المتشددة، هو الموقف الرسمي الصادر عما يسمى "وزارة التربية" التابعة لسلطة الأمر الواقع؛ إذ جاء بيانها الردّي على الانتقادات البنّاءة مليئاً بالتناقضات والمغالطات، مما يثبت تحول هذه المؤسسة إلى أداة للتجهيل وتزوير الحقائق وتكريس التمييز الجندري ضد المرأة والطفل.
رابعاً: صناعة التطرف وعزل الأطفال عن العالم: إننا نبدي استغرابنا وإدانتنا الشديدة للأصوات التي تدافع عن هذه التغييرات الكارثية تحت مزاعم خدمة المصلحة العامة. إن هذه المناهج تسلب الطفل حريته في التفكير والاعتقاد، وتنشئه على نظرة قاصرة ودونية للمرأة كعنصر هامشي أو غريب عن المجتمع، مما يعزل الطفولة السورية تماماً عن ركب الحضارة والمدنية.
خامساً: عسكرة وحرف المجتمع الطفولي: لم تكتفِ سلطة الجولاني بإنشاء معسكرات خاصة للأطفال على غرار ما تُعرف بـ"أشبال الأمة" أو مخرجات الفكر المتشدد، بل تجاوزت ذلك لتبدأ عملية تحويل ممنهجة وشاملة لبيئة الطفولة السورية إلى بيئة متطرفة تتنافى مع اتفاقية حقوق الطفل الدولية.
إننا في تحالف غرب سوريا نرفع هذا البيان بصفة عاجلة إلى الأمم المتحدة، ومنظمة الأمم المتحدة للتربية والعلم والثقافة (اليونسكو)، وجمعيات حقوق الطفل والمرأة، والمنظمات الحقوقية الدولية كافة؛ للتدخل الفوري والضغط لوقف عملية التجهيل والتجريف الثقافي التي يتعرض لها أطفال سوريا، وحماية حقهم في تعليم محايد وتعددي يضمن السلام المجتمعي.

We, the Western Syria Alliance (WSA), affirm that the Mediterranean coastline of Western Syria forms an integral part of our historical and geographical territory, and that our maritime rights and interests must be recognized and respected.
We also reject the Turkish–Libyan maritime agreement, which threatens the geographical and strategic interests of Greece, Cyprus, Israel, and Egypt.
Given that the current authorities in Damascus operate under Turkish neo-Ottoman tutelage, disregard the interests of the Syrian people, and are ceding Syrian territory to Turkey, they do not represent our position on this matter.
Accordingly, the Western Syria Alliance independently reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding its coastal and maritime interests, supports the Greek–Egyptian maritime proposal, and stands alongside these friendly nations in accordance with international law.

ونظراً لأن السلطات القائمة حالياً في دمشق تتبع للوصاية العثمانية التركية ولا تهتم لمصالح الشعب السوري وتقوم بالتنازل عن الاراضي السورية لتركيا وهي لا تمثل موقفنا بشأن هذه القضية، فإن "تحالف غرب سوريا" يعلن -بشكل مستقل- عن تمسكه بمصالحه الساحلية، ويدعم المقترح البحري اليوناني-المصري، ويقف إلى جانب هذه الدول الصديقة وفقاً للقانون الدولي.

International Freedom Coalition Condemns Senate Candidate El-Sayed's Silence on Global Jihadist Violence
IFC: El-Sayed's Selective Silence Erases a Global Pattern of Jihadist Violence — From Gaza's Victims to Africa's Slaves
BOSTON — The International Freedom Coalition (IFC), representing communities from Sudan to Nigeria to Lebanon who have lived under jihadist violence, today condemned Michigan U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed for his conduct around the October 7 anniversary, during which he declined to acknowledge Hamas's massacre of Israelis, walked away when pressed on the anniversary by reporters, and dismissed his opponent's recitation of Hamas's atrocities as "political theater." IFC leaders say his posture is yet another instance of leftist and Islamist movements working in tandem to erase and deny the plight of jihad's victims worldwide.
“Israel is not a special case,” said Dr. Charles Jacobs, president of the International Freedom Coalition. “It is just the most visible member of a vast class of people that the left and its Islamist partners do not want people to see: along with Israelis, Sudanese, Nigerians, Yazidis, Copts, Kurds, Alawites, Lebanese, Iranian dissidents and many more are victims of jihadism. They are killed, enslaved and abused, yet progressives, who rightly fought for minority rights in the past, have abandoned these people today.”
IFC member communities know well this strategy that El-Sayed and his allies have adopted.
Daowd Salid, Sudanese member of the IFC coalition: "Jihadist militias armed by Khartoum enslaved and massacred my people in Sudan and Darfur for decades. Mr. El-Sayed, you ask Michigan to send you to the Senate— will you speak about our reality, or walk away from us too?"
Stephen Enada, Nigerian member of the IFC coalition: "Boko Haram jihadists have murdered thousands of Nigerian Christians and abducted our daughters, and the international left has never once marched for us. Will you condemn the jihadists who do this, Mr. El-Sayed?"
Michael Gamal, Coptic Egyptian member of the IFC coalition: "Islamist mobs have bombed our churches and killed our worshippers for generations. We have learned not to expect the outrage that greets any Israeli response to terror. We ask Mr. El-Sayed directly: is remembering our dead also 'political theater'?"
John Hajjar, Lebanese Christian member of the IFC coalition: "Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed jihadist militia, has held my country hostage and silenced its Christian and Druze communities for forty years. Mr. El-Sayed, will the next senator from Michigan ever name that militia as the terrorists they are?"
Ayellet Aviv, Israeli-Jewish member of the IFC coalition: "On October 7, Hamas raped, tortured, and murdered my people for being Jewish in our own homes, and a man asking Michigan to send him to Washington could not bring himself to mark the day, and called it theater when someone else did. Mr. El-Sayed, are you dismissing the Jews to distract from what your ideological allies are doing to so many others?"
The International Freedom Coalition calls on Abdul El-Sayed to issue an unqualified condemnation of Hamas's October 7 atrocities, without caveat or evasion, and to extend that same condemnation to every jihadist movement— Boko Haram, ISIS, Hezbollah, and the networks behind them — that has killed, enslaved, or displaced the communities IFC represents.
“A Senate candidate who cannot even name October 7 cannot be trusted to name jihad when it strikes anyone else,” said Dr. Walid Phares, IFC vice president.

The UN puts the figure at 2,847. Yazda, the Yazidi advocacy organization, counts about 2,700, of whom roughly 1,300 were children when they were taken.

Twenty-five years after the September 11 attacks, the world faces a dangerous contradiction: while commemorating the victims of al-Qaeda on the one hand, it is normalizing relations with a Syrian authority that emerged from al-Qaeda’s former branch in Syria on the other.
Changing a name does not erase an ideology. Replacing military fatigues with a suit does not erase a record. And terrorism does not acquire legitimacy simply by taking control of state institutions, or through international political decisions driven by political interests while disregarding the blood of its victims.
Meanwhile, Alawites, Christians, Druze, Ismailis, Murshidis, Kurds, moderate Muslims, and others continue to face sectarian violence, arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance, and displacement. The international community must not sacrifice their lives for political or economic interests.

بعد خمسة وعشرين عاماً على هجمات 11 سبتمبر، يقف العالم أمام تناقض خطير: بينما العالم يحيي ذكرى ضحايا تنظيم القاعدة من جهة، من جهة اخرى يقوم في تطبيع علاقاته مع سلطة سورية خرجت من رحم القاعدة السابق في سوريا.
تغيير الاسم لا يمحو الأيديولوجيا. واستبدال الزي العسكري ببدلة رسمية لا يمحو السجل. والإرهاب لا يكتسب الشرعية لمجرد سيطرته على مؤسسات الدولة أو من قرارت سياسية دولية يغلب عليها المصلحة السياسة متجاهلة دماء الضحايا.
وفي الوقت الذي لا يزال فيه العلويون والمسيحيون والدروز والإسماعيليون والمرشديون والكرد والمسلمون المعتدلون وغيرهم يواجهون العنف الطائفي والاعتقال والاختفاء والتهجير، يجب ألّا يضحّي المجتمع الدولي بحياتهم من أجل المصالح السياسية أو الاقتصادية.
لن ننسى. لن نطبّع مع الجهادية. ولن نقبل بتحويل الإرهاب إلى نظام حكم.
