This does a much better job of announcing our Professorial job than my rushed blank Retweet earlier today. What Priya says is all true!
Okay. Now for a happier tweet. We @englishunicam are hiring a Full Professor--an established chair and it's open field. Don't tell anyone I said this but it's a pretty decent department to work in, fabulous students & there are loads of good people in it incl. obv me.

There have been a couple of new posts on my blog since I last mentioned it: english.cam.ac.uk/research/c… The most recent one looks at research into why most people are not constantly flooded with involuntary thoughts about the past and the future.

Retweeting someone Tweeting what I should have Tweeted... If I am blogging again (which I am, tentatively for now) then I should be back on Twitter more. Thanks, Simon! english.cam.ac.uk/research/c… as he says.

Some of my friends have had dramas getting their kids home from far away, as lockdowns spread and flights stop. This petition relates to an ongoing one, in Peru... Needs more signatures I think: you.38degrees.org.uk/petitio…

... and any other action you can think of, to get Dominic Raab / the embassy in Lima to work some magic.
You are more than welcome to visit again, @jntod, any time!

Here's something I wrote about hatching plans with scientists (@js_simons and @cfernyhough) to think about what it feels like to remember things.

I just think I've looked after my armband pretty well. It's been used 8 times and it looks like it could manage more.

And a shout-out to Dunstan Roberts, not on Twitter I think, but in this pic!
Cambridge English on the pickets again, this time the one modernist outnumbered by Medieval and Renaissance @WhatLitKnows is here & in centre, heroic Dr Phil Knox, who resigned his Fellowship at Trinity after they pulled out of our pension scheme for spurious reasons. Bravo!

He's more than just Whistlejacket. The painting of the Earl of Clarendon's gamekeeper with a dying doe is really something: metmuseum.org/art/collection…
Only a week to go before this closes. I finally got to it today, and I enjoyed it very much.
Our critically-acclaimed exhibition "Mr & Mrs Ravilious" ends on 27th October. Don't miss it. Much of the work has hardly been seen in public and will soon return to private collections

I was really taken by all the design work alongside the paintings: marbled papers by Tirzah, Wedgwood china by Eric, etc.

Also a big pause for thought when I thought about how his style would have made magical work of the Icelandic landscape, had he had a chance to paint it. (His plane crashed two days after he arrived there.)
