WWC visited @Escobar_Muni to learn more about the City’s data-driven public health, environmental management and public safety initiatives. During the visit, the team saw firsthand how City Hall integrates data into its daily operations, including evaluating patient services at the Manuel Belgrano high-complexity clinic, centralizing public safety information at the City's Monitoring Center and preserving key native ecosystems through its Natural Reserve in Maschwitz. Thank you to Mayor @ArielSujarchuk and the entire Escobar City Hall staff for a great site visit. 📸 Courtesy @Escobar_Muni

The priorities on mayors' desks keep shifting, but the cities making progress have one thing in common: they lead with data. In her latest guest column for @routefifty, SVP and Managing Director @RVHaynes shares how Certified cities are putting data into practice: - @PhiladelphiaGov cut its zoning appeal process from as long as 78 days to as few as 12. - @FTLCityNews built a $500 million stormwater plan on data from every drain and pipe, plus residents' knowledge of where flooding happens. - @CityofNN used anonymized visitor data to shape its tourism campaigns. "The top issues on mayors' minds will always evolve. The need for data-informed leadership does not." If you are a data-driven city curious about doing what works, take the Data Snapshot and join the WWC community. route-fifty.com/people/2026/…

“For many years in Brazil, we had this idea that only the state government should take care of public safety…” said Maria Eduardo Couto, Technology and Data Coordinator for Civitas @Prefeitura_Rio. “But what we understood at Civitas and City Hall is that, as a city, we have a lot of information about what is happening in the territory.” By bringing together cross-departmental information, Civitas, an advanced security hub, has assisted in over 4,000 cases and partnered with the Secretariat for Women to develop Mulher. Rio, a platform connecting women facing violence to vital services. Watch SVP and Managing Director @RVHaynes and Maria Eduarda Couto discuss how Rio uses data to improve public safety in this interview at Smart Cities Curitiba:
