Trying to walk the narrow path & preserve mainline protestantism. My bleeding geek heart runs on Dorothy Day, alternative rock & tea lattes.

There are many other bands that completely changed the way I listened to music. Green Day (10), MCR (13), Porcupine Tree & Opeth (16), and Sweet Trip (18) are the other big ones. Pink Floyd hit me at 15, a musical crossroads. It was like, “This is how grand music can be? Wow!”.

I respect Richard for holding himself accountable, it feels like a rarity in this era of Xitter where people will excuse nearly any horrible behavior as a “joke”. I was just reading The Screwtape Letters earlier and I’m reminded of this passage in it:
I want to apologize for making inappropriate jokes about my Jewish heritage on my private discord server. It was a stupid heat of the moment attempt to be funny when I was under a lot of stress As most of you know, myself and many other Jewish people online regularly experience antisemitic rhetoric, and whenever we push back, we are brutally mobbed and attacked For some of us, making Jewish jokes is a trauma response so we will not be seen as “uncool” or “too sensitive” but that doesn’t excuse unbiblical behavior or tasteless jokes I apologize for setting a bad example

What are ur favorite albums shown to you by your parents? Here are some of mine. I remember all of these albums soundtracking many car rides during my first ten years of life, and I still love each one today. Bet you can’t tell which half are from my Dad & which are from Mom xD.
it's difficult because a lot of my music taste is congruent with my parents' despite me 'discovering' the bands independently but these are the albums i Remember falling in love w bc of them (usually from them playing these bands in the car)

Interesting that the liberal stereotype pastors are the ones actually putting their asses on the line for real world justice. Looks really don’t determine content of character.

Most of the greatest albums weren’t created by one incredibly smart visionary who everyone around them gave in to, rather a group pitching a plethora of (often conflicting) ideas and a producer smart enough to arrange them into something cohesive. That is creation in action.

I wrote a review thingy, here’s a snippet: …the slightly underwritten 'C.E.O.' completely works despite itself, because Rivers' self-conscious lyricism is finally backed up by the sonic power needed to sell it, that Weezer thunder once again roaring. rateyourmusic.com/music-revi…
