The truest, deepest form of love is only experienced when you're willing to change. When you're willing to give up your vices, your defensiveness. When you can let down the walls you built to protect yourself. Anything before that is selfishness, because you're unwilling to surrender your pride and ego. After I married my husband I realized how broken my understanding of love was in the past, and I regretted all the hurt that I caused because of it. You have to ask if you're willing to let your understanding of love be corrected, even if it means changing your entire worldview.
I have no advice on how to date or find your soul mate. I have been in love with my husband since I was twenty-one years old. I didn't engineer that. I didn't go on thousands of dates or study the right tactics to attract him to me. There was just a voice inside me that hit me as hard as a fist: It said, I don't care if you don't understand how to love properly. You are going to learn how to love him, or you're going to hate yourself for the rest of your life.
