Big news: Tyson Mao is joining Wing as Head of AI! 🎉
We first met Tyson in 2023 when we evaluated Tobiko Data, the company he co-founded and led as CEO. Tobiko built SQLMesh, the open source data transformation framework, and was later acquired by Fivetran.
At Wing, Tyson will lead how we apply AI across the firm, from finding founders early to supporting our companies as they scale.

Chris dug into AI infrastructure debt and found that two companies can run the exact same GPUs and pay twice as much as each other to finance them. It all comes down to who the customer is.
🏢 Big tech borrows cheap, barely above what the U.S. government pays
🔌 The newer GPU rental companies pay close to what the riskiest junk bonds pay, even for the same chips
Lenders don’t lend against demand, they lend against signed contracts. On $1B of equipment, that gap is about $80M a year, enough to decide who can cut prices and who has to raise them.

We've seen a lot of impressive robotics demos, but far fewer real-world deployments.
Ultra is building with deployment at its core, focused on making robots work reliably, deliver real customer value, and scale in the real world.
Robotics has a distribution problem. Today, Ultra is announcing $62M in funding to solve it, including a $50M Series A led by @hiFramework.
We believe that deployment is the bottleneck in robotics.
It’s relatively easy to make a robot look impressive in a controlled environment. It’s much harder to put a robot into the open world, make it useful, keep it running, earn the trust of the people working alongside it, and do that over and over and over again.
So that’s what we’re focusing on.
