Over the weekend, our team strengthened the Orange Line tracks by removing old rock from around the rail crossties and replacing the ties using specialized equipment. Crossties support the rails and help keep tracks secure, which improves stability and reliability. 🚇🟠

Escalator replacement work is underway at Metro Center station’s lower platform only and will continue through April 2027 as part of Metro’s ongoing effort to replace 139 escalators across the system by 2028. The south-side escalators are currently barricaded, with the elevators and stairs available. On Monday, Nov. 16, the north-side escalators will also be barricaded. For your safety, stay clear of construction areas and follow posted signs. Learn more: wmata.com/initiatives/plans-…

Tomorrow through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Blue Line trains will single track between Van Dorn St and Franconia-Springfield for thermite welding. This process uses intense heat to join tracks, replace rail, and repair rail defects. 🚇🔵 Tomorrow through Thursday after 10 p.m., Red Line trains will single track between Union Station and Rhode Island Av while crews replace crossties and switches. Crossties support the rails and help keep tracks secure, while switches allow trains to move between tracks. 🚇🔴 While we complete late-night work on the Red Line, we will be monitoring the @Capitals and @WashWizards games, so there will be minimal impacts to customers. For Mickey, Metro means freedom to get where she needs to go while staying connected to her community. 🚇🚌 “The more we’re able to support Metro, the more it will be able to support us back,” she said. You can spot Mickey throughout the system as part of our Metro Wall of Fame campaign, celebrating customers who are proud to help keep Metro moving. 🌟

More homes. More destinations. More reasons to ride. When Rhode Island Av station opened in 1976, it was Metro’s first park-and-ride station. Over the years, Metro saw an opportunity to bring more people and destinations closer to transit. Working with a developer and the District of Columbia, Metro helped transform 8.5 acres of surface parking into Rhode Island Row: 274 apartments, plus shops and restaurants, completed in 2013. That joint development helped spur the corridor’s evolution with over 1,150 new homes and 115,000 square feet of retail added in the station area since 2019. That’s transit-oriented development in action: more places to live and more destinations connected by Metro. Whether you’re meeting friends at metrobar or catching a movie at Alamo Drafthouse, the Red Line gets you there. Fifty years in, Metro keeps connecting people to possibilities.

Don’t forget: clocks fall back one hour tonight. ⏰ Before you head out tomorrow, make sure your devices and alarms are set to standard time. Whether you're catching an early train, boarding a bus, or enjoying that extra hour of sleep, Metro will be ready to get you where you need to go. Clocks change, but rail service does not add an extra hour. Service ends shortly after 1:59 a.m., before clocks turn back to 1 a.m. Late-night Metro Bus customers, there may be some gaps in service during the time adjustment. Check Metro Pulse to confirm when your bus is coming: wmata.com/MetroPulse
