100 ERs, ICUs & maternity wards have temporarily closed since the summer. There’ve been 1000+ Code Zeros in Ontario this year (when 0 ambulances are available in a region). Surgeries are being cancelled & sick children are being turned away from ERs. Numbers from @OntarioHealthC

We have a crisis in pediatric care. And now, despite the urgency of this situation, Doug Ford has closed the legislature UNTIL FEBRUARY. Myself and the @OntarioNDP are calling for the legislature to return as soon as possible to fix this health care crisis. #onpoli

If there was one message we wanted to get out today, this is it. Ontarians need to know that @fordnation could be doing so much more and they are not. @TinaYazdani nails it ⤵️⤵️
"We're furious, we can't believe the government is doing so little in the face of what is truly a humanitarian catastrophe," the Ontario Health Coalition is holding rallies across the province to protest the Ford gov't "inaction" on the hospital crisis & attempts to privatize.

📢#Ottawa Protest to protect our Public hospitals. Ford has done substantially NOTHING to fix the crisis in our hospitals besides deny and privatize. Children are being turned away from hospitals. @CHEO is overwhelmed & is being supported by @redcrosscanada. 🧵1/2

I still can’t believe they’ve got hospitals calling the Red Cross for help when Ontario under spent on healthcare by ~$900 million in the first half of this year. Ontarians deserve better. Ontarians deserve a healthcare system that doesn’t rely on the Red Cross to bail us out.

When the Red Cross is called into a children's hospital to address a crisis...it is worth noting that Ford under spent by 900 million in health care 2022. Red Cross workers are ussually called in for disaster relief...#onpoli thestar.com/politics/provinc… via @torontostar

As human beings we are all fundamentally compassionate. We have to build a world founded on human values—a world no longer dependent on the use of weapons. When people fight and die, their minds are not at peace, but we can imagine building a world based on compassion.

Waterloo has 20 fewer hospital beds than in 1961, but its population has grown by 447,223. Our system is under unprecedented strain and is falling further behind under @Fordnation, yet there was NO major health funding increases in fall fiscal statement. kitchener.ctvnews.ca/coaliti…

Bill 124 has been deemed as unconstitutional. A bill designed to suppress the wages of healthcare workers, mostly women-led professions. It should have never become a bill in the first place. #ONpoli
