Competition ratios in 🇬🇧 released The total lack of thought around jobs vs performative “oh, we will create new med school places” is playing out as predicted This is not a mistake These concerns were raised by myself & others *pre-COVID* I’d ask you to come to your own conclusions about why they are doing this* *spoilers - it’s not for your benefit or patient care #medtwitter #MedEd medical.hee.nhs.uk/medical-t…

Some might remember my proposed education initiative to improve feedback and the general education experience for doctors in acute medicine last year. Well, I have now been running the ‘feedback clinic’ for a year, and I wanted to share my learning/experiences
In spirit of sharing ideas: I’m piloting a new education initiative in Aug for trainees in acute med. I hope to improve clinical feedback for docs & give more opportunities for them to get the WPBAs they need for portfolios by removing their need to ‘hustle’ to get them completed

Oh my, this is is brilliant from @RobLaurensonD4P 🚨 Strike action has cost the govt £3bn 🚨 Full pay restoration would have only cost £1.3bn 🚨 Re 35% demand - a physician’s assistant is paid 35% more than a fully qualified doctor 🤬🤬🤬

Today we launch legal action against @gmcuk over its decision to apply good medical practice equally to PAs & AAs, & the use of “medical professionals” to describe these professions PAs/AAs are not doctors – blurring the lines can have tragic consequences bma.org.uk/bma-media-centre/…

I’m simply horrified to see @NHSEngland now literally breaking the law in how it misrepresents physician associates & other allied health professional - who are NOT doctors - to the public. These posters are from the Bradford District & Craven Health & Care Partnership. 1/n

Lisa was a huge influence on my decision to train in emergency medicine. Whilst she was an Editor of the EMJ Supplement she encouraged me to write about public health issues to the wider EM community. She was truly someone who cared for the underserved communities in East London.

This is another favorite because I truly had no understanding of manignant glaucoma aka aqueous misdirection aka ciliary block aka vitreous block before making this. If you don’t understand something, force yourself to learn by teaching it. #ophthalmology #ophthox
Aqueous misdirection AKA Malignant Glaucoma AKA Aqueous Misdirection AKA Vitreous Block is a confusing topic (partly because there's so many names). The true mechanism isn't known, what is known is an abnormal lens/ciliary/vitreous relationship. #ophthalmology #ophhotwitter
