Today’s news that Novaya Gazeta is being forced to cease its operations due to Russia’s relentless repression of independent media is deeply deplorable. For the past 30 years, it has been a highly professional media outlet and a leading advocate for democracy and freedom of expression in the country.

Deeply saddened by the EUFOR Althea helicopter crash near Brčko, Bosnia and Herzegovina. My heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives. My thoughts are also with the injured. Sweden stands in solidarity with Italy and our EU partners, and we honour all those serving for peace and stability in the Western Balkans.

Sverige deltog i Steadfast Noon tillsammans med allierade för att öva på konventionellt stöd till kärnvapenoperationer med Jas 39 Gripen.
Genom Steadfast Noon har Flygvapnet bidragit till Natos kärnvapenavskräckning.
Inga kärnvapen användes i övningen i Italien.

The EU has presented its new Arctic Strategy.
As one of the Union’s three Arctic Member States, Sweden welcomes that the EU strengthens its role in the region and puts security at the forefront.
It is important that we pay more attention to the Arctic region’s increasing geopolitical weight, protection of critical infrastructure, and deepened cooperation with like-minded partners – in addition to issues such as climate, environment, and research. We also welcome that the strategy gives priority to matters regarding space policy, which is becoming essential to the EU’s security and autonomy.
The Arctic is our part of Europe. It is both a domestic and a foreign policy matter. We look forward to continuing the work with the Arctic Strategy both within the EU and with international partners.

Det sägs att ett extra val skulle skada förtroendet för politiken. Det stämmer säkert.
Men skakiga regeringar, utan tydlig riktning eller majoritet för sin politik, riskerar att göra minst lika stor skada.
Titta på SVT:s Valu. Förtroendet för politiker stärktes under perioderna 2006–2010 och 2022–2026, med stabila regeringar och tydlig politisk riktning. Perioden 2010–2022 var däremot en lång utförslöpa.
Att släppa fram S i en fjärde statsministeromröstning, för att sedan låta Andersson försöka styra landet på 99 av 349 mandat, är näppeligen ett recept för ökat förtroende.
Ett extra val är inte nödvändigtvis det största hotet mot förtroendet för politiken.
