Elindult "A magyar 'woke show' sértett fehérei" című sorozatom, aminek első cikke: "Nádas-ügy: fehér férfi nem nyerhet díjat?" A 2024-es irodalmi botrányból kiindulva írok több eset kapcsán a magyar félperifériás fehérekről és gyarmatkritikáról. zoltanginelli.substack.com/p…

News from the early Soviet historical anticolonialism translation project: a chapter from Georgy Safarov's Colonial Revolution (1923) has just arrived that discusses why the revolutions of 1917 failed (initially) to disrupt the settler-colonial oppression of Turkestan.

Hatvan éve hunyt el Polányi Károly.
👇 A gondolatai azonban időszerűbbek, mint bármikor.

My piece on Social Europe: why the significance of #Orbán's '#colonial turn' is largely underestimated by his #Westcentric critics. Meanwhile, #decolonial critique remains captured by conservatives and the opposition mirrors their rhetoric uncritically.

I'm writing on the opposition's discourse of 'battery colonialism'. This abstract was rejected for publication by the Hungarian leftist journal 'Fordulat', which is planning a special issue on battery production. Hence, decolonial critique is sidelined. zoltanginelli.com/2024/03/04…
More is to come on other media outlets. There's also a much denser and actual context as Hungarian conservatives expect Trump to win and Hungary will hold the next rotating presidency in the European Council.
They ripped me off! I did NOT authorize my former supervisor (!!!) at @ELTE_UNI to steal my work uncredited in Annals of @theAAG based on our joint 2015 research project & my 10 years of work on Hungarian 'semiperipheral coloniality'. Wrote to the editor. t.ly/TA1iE
As before: in 2019 I sued w the Hungarian Helsinki Committee the Hungarian Academy of Sciences' institution. I co-wrote a 3-year state-funded project, my contribution was geogr. of Hungarian Balkanism in global colonialism as SEMIPERIPHERY. Won in court! zoltanginelli.com/2020/05/04…
@theAAG journal could alternatively 1) list me as co-author, 2) retract the paper, 3) offer me an opportunity to submit a commentary in the journal.
You can check my website & work, but I have a Hungarian Balkanism text & this project backing it up. I wrote ALL of the relevant theoretical background. academia.edu/35675724/Contin…

Can’t believe it, but Silicon Valley Imperialism is a real book! There are tons of people to thank for helping make it happen, including Alex Horghidan for the brilliant cover art, and so many others. Extra thanks to @lizault for guiding the entire process dukeupress.edu/silicon-valle…
Thanks for all colleagues I happened to be sometimes friends with for not referring to my work when endorsing arguments I publicly made years ago in @i_kalmar’s book White But Not Quite. It feels worth spending my thousands of hours & euros on research as independent researcher. – at Philadelphia, PA
A decent meal costs 12-20 dollars here in Philadelphia, my official salary is net 580 dollars. My grant for this trip will be post-funded. Why do I have to overwork and pay in order to be heard? Why are others not acknowledging my work? Have I not worked enough? – at Philadelphia, PA
Why do I have to engage with the work of senior scholars to be recognized in my own field of study: coloniality and race in Hungary, the colonial turn of the Orbán regime? Is this not the reproduction of academic hierarchies? Is ignoring my work not competition with my work?
Book Disc.: White But Not Quite: Central Europe's Illiberal Revolt by @i_kalmar — Kevin Deegan-Krause, Jannis Panagoitidis, @TZarycki, chair Jacob Ari Labendz. Comments: @PiotrPuchalski5, @Amaurotum & me. Me: Westcentric & thin on semiperiphery & ignores local research. #ASEEES23 – at Philadelphia, PA
@Amaurotum Highlighted the importance of reframing the region more globally through the ‘Global East’ literature, adding that criticizing the Westcentric politics of knowledge production is crucial to understanding the region.
