These immediately come to mind, though there are plenty of others.
1. Mothra vs Godzilla (1964)
2. Sayonara Jupiter (1984)
3. Godzilla vs King Ghidorah (1991)
4. Godzilla X Mechagodzilla (2002)

i’m so unbelievably upset that florida has to endure four more years of a republican government. why do us florida natives continually get punished by northerners who keep outnumbering us in our own home? they’re voting to destroy a state they could never love the way we do.

Yall really gotta fuck off bro, yall do this everytime and shit on FL everytime, actual Florida natives want better and have been voting for better but we are outnumbered by the amount of racists, ppl from UP NORTH, and old folks and so many other factors make it hard for us

This is historic not just for a Godzilla film in Japan, but also for Japanese live action films. Toho gambled big with a huge marketing campaign for Godzilla in Japan and it seems to have paid off.

An actual shot from an official Toho Godzilla short film...
Made by Japan’s biggest film studio...
Funded with fan money...
In a series of shorts created specifically to celebrate the magic of traditional handcrafted special effects.
AI can go to hell.
Happy Godzilla Day. 🙃
I’d like to think it was his friendship and collaboration with Ishiro Honda that helped him pull through. Honda was literally his eyes on set.

Tbh I'm kinda sick of people calling certain Showa movies "goofy" as an insult like the creators weren't looking for that. Like yeah man I'm sure the Godzilla tail slide was meant to be taken dead serious and not a comedic bit done on purpose.
I often saw fans call the first 3 films the “golden age of Heisei” but I’d def expand that to vs Mothra as well. These 4 films have clear thematics and relevant commentary the last 3 Heisei films just don’t - I enjoy those films too, but they’re not really saying much.
The first 4 Heisei films nicely represent the major thematic pillars of the series as a whole: G’84 is a no-nonsense, anti-nuclear metaphor. GvB is a spy thriller about the misuse of science. GvKG is a zany, alien (Futurian) invasion film, and GvM is anti-greed environmentalism.

The Showa era is the foundation everything is built upon, the basics were established there and every era and iteration owes SOMETHING to it. The Showa era is an eclectic showcase of the talents of so many talented folks. For me its hands down the best era.
I’m glad someone else noticed this because every time it felt like such a reach from people willfully disregarding the explicit text of the movie.

Final Wars (2004) was only a hiatus. Toho was already discussing Godzilla's return with Takashi Yamazaki right after the film bombed. Yes, Godzilla (2014) encouraged Toho to move forward. But it was the immense success of Shin Godzilla that really got things going again in Japan.
And if I said Godzillasaurus was the single greatest addition to the Godzilla mythos I wouldn’t be wrong!
