Historically, when you speak of Ethiopia, you're not referring to the country of Ethiopia 🇪🇹 today. It was once known as Abyssinia, Axum, and many other names, depending on the ruling power at the time, before adopting the name "Ethiopia” in the 4th century CE during the reign of King Ezana of the Kingdom of Aksum. However, it was widely known internationally as Abyssinia until the 20th century.
Historically, Ethiopia referred to the Indigenous Black people of Africa and Asia. In addition, the Atlantic Ocean was once known as the Aethiopian Ocean.

Jerry was waiting for a bus after work when a stranger walked up and shot him in the face with a shotgun. Random attack. No reason. He woke up two months later in a hospital with his front brain removed, screws in his skull, skin grafted from his leg onto his face. Lost his apartment. Ended up homeless on Skid Row. Never stopped smiling. Died in 2020 when his lungs gave out.
In the video below Jerry sits down with photographer Mark Laita for Soft White Underbelly on Skid Row - where he'd been sleeping outside since losing everything - and talks through what happened with a calm that's hard to watch.
He said the doctor told him something strange. Said the shot was so close that it actually saved him. Any further away and his head would have been all over the street.
He said he can't see properly out of his left eye. Can't smell or breathe through his nose at all. Said he hadn't looked at himself in a mirror in over two years.
Before the shooting he was making airplane parts at a machine shop. Had his own apartment. A normal life. Gone in one second at a bus stop.
He was asked if he was bitter.
Said no. Said he has every excuse in the world to be down. Just doesn't use it. Said he can't stop living now.
Does a man who gets shot in the face by a stranger, loses his home, loses his brain and still wakes up grateful have something most people with everything intact will never understand?

A US soldier was allegedly killed fighting REPTILIAN-LOOKING BEINGS near Area 51. His body was reportedly cremated immediately, and his death covered up as a training accident.
Former U.S. Army sniper Nick Betts claims that while filming a documentary in Poland, he met a man who said he had participated in a secret military operation near Area 51.
Before speaking, the man reportedly collected everyone's phones and put them in a microwave.
According to his account, security personnel at an underground facility suddenly stopped responding to radio checks. A military team was sent to investigate, but they also went silent.
A second team was then flown from Fort Bragg and issued unfamiliar high-energy weapons that didn't use conventional magazines.
Inside a foul-smelling underground tunnel, the soldiers allegedly encountered a bipedal, mildly reptilian-looking being carrying a similar weapon.
One American was fatally struck in the chest. The soldiers reportedly returned fire, killing 3 beings.
But what happened afterward was even stranger.
The surviving soldiers were allegedly forbidden from bringing their dead colleague's body home, with sterilization cited as the reason. They also reportedly signed documents and underwent biometric scans.
The following morning, Betts claims another supposed participant grabbed him by the neck, slammed him against a wall, and warned him never to discuss the incident.
Betts says the confrontation ultimately cost him his documentary job, and he was sent home from Poland.
Then, on September 30, 2026, former US intelligence officer David Grusch separately described allegations of American personnel shooting reptilian-looking beings during a crash-retrieval operation in which US personnel were injured or killed.
Grusch did not identify Betts's alleged incident, and neither account has been independently verified.
Are these simply extraordinary military stories, or could records of the alleged soldier's death finally establish what actually happened?
