People scream “my body, my choice” until it’s a Muslim woman who chooses to practice her religion and dress modestly. All Abrahamic religions have teachings about modesty and head coverings for women. It’s not Muslims’ fault that some people identify as Christians but choose not to practice what their religion teaches. Muslim women are not oppressed simply because they don’t dress the way you want them to. Trying to portray an accomplished doctor as oppressed because she chooses to practice her faith is deeply offensive. Women’s autonomy means respecting their choices, even when those choices don’t align with yours.
