12+ years of software engineering. It still feels like I'm only getting started: sebastianjimenez.co/articles…
The more I read about management and leadership, the more it seems few of my previous managers have actually read about management and leadership.

I think in most of the CS curriculum too much focus is given to the abstract computation model, the asymptotic behaviors etc. and hardly any details on how to implement them on modern CPU architectures (scalability, cache friendliness, mechanical sympathy etc.) at scale. I am not saying we should not teach the abstract model, but it gets interesting and more practical when the rubber hits the road.

Remember, there is an intrinsic feedback availability imbalance: we deal with bad stuff daily, and it is more visible than good stuff. For every ugly customer support ticket, there are likely hundreds of customers who never told you things were great.

In Spanish there’s this saying: “In the land of the blind, a one-eyed man would rule”. But the more I think about it, I’m sure it should be “…a one-eyed man will be called insane until he believes it”.
Just saw the start of a very violent video on my for you page. I tried to report it, and now I have to fill a form?
